Retired long-time sober (1992) guy in Kelowna!

Downloaded this early meme 25+ years ago, it still comes to mind every now and then.

The saying that always made sense to me was "If you are in a race and you fall down, do you just lie there?" Not a lot of the sayings really resonated with me, but that one sure did 33 years ago. One day at a time.

Absolutely! I would NEVER had had the life I have today, had I not quit drinking on Dec 23, 1992. One day at a time.

Bought my first computer in Winnipeg on Dec 22, 1995 and spent $2,414.52 which was a HELL of a lot of money to me at the time. Wish I could remember the specs...

Rush is butyl nitrite, which used to be (maybe still is?) sold in head shops back in the seventies. Amyl nitrite was used medically for angina patients to dilate blood vessels and it was discovered that you could get a brief high from inhaling it as well. As it was a controlled substance, someone came up with butyl nitirite which was legal and did the same thing. I made it in chemistry class in high school in the late seventies and used to keep a test tube in my locker. 😂

And here I am thinking it is crazy that ONE of the theatres here doesn't have closed captions? Been using them at theatres for a LONG time.

Life never gets easy. Sobriety gets easier once you accept that. Source: Sober since Dec 23, 1992.

Awesome! One day at a time, and all of a sudden I am 32 years sober!

32 years sober as an atheist in AA. If personal strength could have kept me sober, I wouldn't have done AA. The program and group helped.

I quit Jan 25, 2002 - the day after Peter Gzowski died of emphysema (COPD). In 2021 he wrote "How to Stop Smoking in Fifty Years or Less"

If you are running a race and you trip and fall, you get up, brush yourself off, and keep going. Source: 32 years sober (after few falls)

I found the best time to quit is when you are REALLY ready to quit. Not because you can't afford it, or because someone else wants you to quit, etc. I tried quitting a number of times for those reasons, but once I was truly tired of smoking 23 years ago, I never went back. Can't imagine doing it again and have NEVER missed it.

That's why Mitch gets zero credit for voting against RFK Jr. WAY TOO LATE. Had he not personally experienced polio, I doubt very much he would have.

From what I can see in Wikipedia, from the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council, the 4 Canadian based banks hold about 4% of the assets of the total of the top 100 banks operating in America. It's a flood like Trump's hands are HUGE.
