I support the Writer's Strike for the sole reason that maybe we'll finally get some good content... All jokes aside, aye, it's rough. Good luck- and, unironically, you can probably find a bit of side money in fandoms. Tons of people have money and ideas, and are willing to pay for some skilled folks to bring those ideas to life. Just a thought.
Remove cops from the equation, and you naturally get vigilante justice as a substitute. What do you think these sorts of people will do when they know, for a fact, that there are no cops to stop them anymore? Surprise- it doesn't matter what you think, we already know that they are not above rioting and attacking others. The logical conclusion is that they do it more often, and do it in more extreme means. It'd be anarchy, which many on the left want. 2/2
See- the problem is that if cops and courts and the law cannot hold criminals accountable, it isn't a question of "who will", but one of "who is left to even try"? The citizenry, of course. We also call this "vigilante justice", and you may have heard of it before in the form of "lynch mobs". This is a bad thing. Have you even seen your average leftist American recently? Violently racist, entitled and more than eager to use some form of victimhood to excuse being a terrible person... 1/2
The correct question to ask now is "Alright, how do we hold them accountable?"
No it won't, Imgur's community is the furthest reaches of the far-left. Anarchy, communism, fascism, all in the name of social justice and other such silly notions. American cops kill black folk, thus they are racist, thus all cops are racist. Nevermind that many of those killed by cops were resisting arrest, some going as far as actively attacking said cop (plenty of body cam footage of this). Teach cops how to be better cops. Teach citizens how not to threaten and attack cops.
Yep. Like, as an American, there are 1oo% massive issues with our cop system -but other countries have it so much better done, with proper training and filtering for better, more honest cops. Imgur's community is intensely far-left, to the point of teetering on anarchists and communists. The mere existence of a group of people both "above the law" (they're not) and holding power over the populace is equivalent to fucking original sin to them.
Don't let them hear you say that. They'll be so mad that their absolute statements are, at best, general trends (and even then, it's still wrong). Also don't tell them that the vast majority of people who die to or are heavily wounded by cops wound up that way because they resisted arrest. There are definitely still corrupt cops, but it's so much more complicated than "cops are bastard racists who target blacks".
