Blaming Democrats is so unhelpful. This rhetoric just encourages people to not vote or to throw their vote away on a third party candidate

More like if someone got frozen and revived in the future they wouldn't understand a lot of what was being said, but everyone else would. Language changes over time.

Think of this logic outside of a political context. Person A does something crappy, let's say they steal from a charity. Person B works hard to stop. Person B reports person A to the authorities. Person B volunteers to work at that charity. Person B donates money to that charity. And then people direct their anger at person B for not stopping person A? It just doesn't make sense to me.

Those little statements of attribution should typically be cut (or at least minimized)

Maybe they thought that spear fishing counts as fishing? Or that fishing with a fishing net counts as fishing? Because in that case the joke works.

As absurd as this sounds, conservative judges have established that corporations can hold you to all kinds of ridiculous fine print hidden in their terms of service. We need a government that protects people, not corporations.

Sherman was a terrible human being, but when people praise the Confederacy it's hard not to think of his march to the sea with a twinkle in your eye

This is still blaming individual choices rather than the systems that need to be changed

His wife(?) says "it's not worth it", but I wish other people had said something like, "why are you harassing this guy" or "leave him alone". It doesn't take a lot

That area was literally the states responsibility.

I read the Colour of Magic and really enjoyed most of it, but at some point the zaniness made it seem like nothing mattered, either in terms of plot or character development. Do the other novels have the same feel?
