I am a person. I like people things. Let's do people things together some time? My housemates and I like to run obstacle courses: http://imgur.com/4jO0bgp (the little one is me, apologies for the lack of mud)
She was cursed to lust after the bull specifically because Minos didn't sacrifice it, right? Poseidon took great offense at not getting what he was owed (because the bull was supposed to be sacrificed in his favour) so he punished Minos through his wife?
Chloe checked with the property owner and other people in the area before taking them home. She didn't steal the kittens, they were strays, and she and her husband even spent several hours before and after their wedding ceremony trying to find the mother (I think they even went back a few days later to double-check). She's documented the story on her Instagram (you'll have to go back about a year, because they just recently had their first anniversary)

I've talked to my GP about some things, but because I'm AFAB the ovaries are the first suspect and they're just hanging around being normal XD I've been too scared to mention any other sort of hormones/endocrine issues because being told "Oh no, that's completely normal" when things feel so wrong makes me feel like I'm being oversensitive but I think you're right, I might have to
Solidarity hugs. I've been trying to get fitter for health reasons too, and at least spread out some of the weight that always goes to my torso, and no matter what else starts to shrink, my chest stays the same. And I fucking hate it. I want to go back to being "surfboard" again because androgyny was the closest to being unperceivable that felt comfortable. I'm really proud of you for looking after your health, though. It isn't easy to make big changes, and you should feel good about that bit

It's the high rising terminal, or upward inflection sound at the end of a sentence, that makes everything we say sound like a question (broadly speaking). To be fair, Nick could also just be a dickhead
I've posted a (not so short) explanation of a few of the reasons why AS isn't a great foundation and doesn't deserve money/support, but tl;dr you can't have autism advocacy without autistic voices, and we're not lesser human beings just because our brains work different

This isn’t very short, and it’s probably very rambly, and there is some nuance being skipped over when it comes to varying levels of support needs, because autism is a spectrum and if you’ve met one autistic person, then you’ve met one autistic person. But a lot of us agree that Autism Speaks does more harm than good, and other organisations like the Autistic Self Advocacy Network (ASAN) actually involve and put forward autistic voices in a more positive manner. A few sources below...
For example, ABA would have me do shopping without my sunglasses, headphones, and discrete-ish hand stims that I need to navigate the sensory nightmare that is Woolies. Instead, I'd be trained to ignore my sensory discomfit and punished if I exhibited non-compliant behaviours, because ABA is about fitting in/surviving rather than thriving. (Also, being taught to defer to anyone who was reasonably authoritative can and has lead to some really dangerous situations)...
capable of leading fulfilling lives. They also endorse therapies such as Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) which teaches autistic children to be compliant with demands from authority figures, and tolerate uncomfortable, and often painful, situations through behaviour reinforcement (do x or you will/won't get y) rather than working with the autistic individuals to develop strategies to cope with and exist in a world that isn't made for us...
autistic person on the board of directors out of 26, and there are very few autistic people in the lower levels of the foundation, too. They don't encourage or even seem to want autistic people to advocate for themselves. Also, only a small fraction of the money they fundraise actually goes to assisting families (which is, allegedly, their biggest aim) and almost half goes towards "awareness" campaigns that further reinforce the stigma that we aren't complete, whole human beings...
making us less than. (They also chose the colour blue, with now a tiny bit of pink added, because they believes boys have a natural prevalence towards autism, rather than girls and women being grossly underdiagnosed because the assessment criteria didn’t take into account differences due to gender presentation until the last decade or so). It also most definitely stems from the fact that AS was created, and is still run by, predominantly allistic people. As of 2022, there was only one...
... which is probably just extreme masking to pass as neurotypical, and they created a "guide" for parents of newly-diagnosed autistic children to help navigate the new world (which isn't, in itself, a bad thing) but the guide equated an autism diagnosis with learning your child has cancer, or has "died" because all those neurotypical hopes and dreams you had for them won't be fulfilled (which isn't true). This attitude is reflected in their logo (a puzzle piece) because they view autism as...
Strap yourself in, I couldn't make it any shorter than this... They were initially developed with a goal to research a "cure" for autism, founded by the allistic (non-autistic) grandparents of an autistic boy in 2005. Though they've allegedly moved away from that, a lot of their research funding is geared towards prenatal diagnosis, which is neutral on a personal level but can get uncomfortably close to eugenics-y on a systemic level. They also imply that autistic people can "recover"...
His association with Autism Speaks is deeply disappointing, but it's hard to tell if he actually agrees with their attitudes and beliefs towards autistic people or if he's just been fooled by the persuasive PR (like how a number of celebrities used to endorse PETA before finding out about the awful things they do in the name of "animal rights"). Even Paul Rudd, Terry Crews and Mark Hamill have donated or attended Autism Speaks events, so I hope it's a case of misguided "support autism = good"
It's from an anime called "Another" (also a novel and a manga, and a live-action movie). Supernatural horror revolving around a haunted classroom/class level. If you've ever seen the gif of the girl tripping down the stairs and impaling herself on her umbrella, it's from the same show
Jack Russells must have insane survivability baked into the breed. Mine ate an entire block of Cadbury Old Gold chocolate (200g, minus a row), foil and all. Puked everywhere but she lived (which is honestly a miracle because I was too scared of waking my parents up in the middle of the night to get her to the vet). She ate the best part of a 2m roll of liquorice too, and used to regularly raid the lolly jar my dad kept on the dresser. Plus snakes bites, horse trampling... and she's still going!
Isn't that, like, all kinds of illegal? I was taught what happens in hospital during my shift, stays in hospital during my shift (regarding people I might know and have to provide care for). If they acknowledge me later, that was their choice, but for me to post about it on Facebook? Absolute no-no
Everybody grows as people and it's absolutely magical, especially episode 6 (and Jim's glow-up is so hot!). It's well worth watching
#31 I still haven't recovered from the season finale
2/2 and the behaviour needs to be challenged so people don't keep thinking it's okay. Especially since, as someone above mentioned, it looked like he was trying similar behaviour with the first girl until she moved away from him. It looks like a pattern he engages in regularly, which is disturbing at best and predatory at worst
Brutal honesty time, when I was 18 and really started drinking, I ran around patting guys on the butt thinking it was funny. But it wasn't funny or cute, it was violating their space and I would have hated it being done to me. My friends called me out on it, I grew up, changed the way I behaved and really examined my attitude towards things, and now I don't go around assaulting people when I'm drunk. It's as simple as that. The guy needs to be called out 1/2
I want to get my horses cremated (even though it will be horribly expensive) but I've always been led to believe that's on the extreme end of grieving/saying goodbye, and only one of them is likely to have anything like a memorial with people outside the family because he came to us from a family friend who loved him to bits but couldn't ride him anymore. That said, nothing is outside the realm of possibility when it comes to devoted pet owners...
Stretching it out over multiple operations was definitely not going to be better than all at once for me XD and it meant getting my braces on quicker, and then it didn't matter how much anxiety I had with my teeth because I could convince my brain it was out of my hands. But again, massive baby when it comes to dentistry and living off soup for two weeks and needing my jaw realigned was definitely worth it
I elected to have general anaesthetic when I got all four of my wisdom teeth taken out at once because they were so low down in my jaw and I have severe anxiety about anything to do with the dentist. Like, verging on a panic attack just getting a checkup and hearing the tools. It was a long wait in the Medicare system (in Australia) but it was a better experience for everyone involved
