Needs better lighting in the photos. It's basically a silhouette in a lot of these, with no details showing.

German science and engineering was decades ahead of anyone else and they invested heavily into it.
Spent a fair bit of time in one. Can confirm. Also because of their modern aesthetics people tend to forget they are old.
If I had to guess, I would guess this is acrylic and not glass.

Opals are pretty much my favorite thing in the world.
No matter how friendly the community starts out, it all goes to hell once LoL is introduced.
Salinity (specific gravity of 1.025), and Temperature (73-84F depending on the species being kept). (5)
pH (8.1-8.4, needs to be stable and not swing), Phosphate (<0.2 ppm, this causes algae growth, test your tap water for this as well), (4)
Nitrate (closer to 0 is better but many species can tolerate up to 30 or so ppm), Nitrite (0 ppm or very very close to it), (3)
Specifically you need to be watching Alkalinity (8-12 dkh), Ammonia (0 ppm or very very close to it), Calcium (around 400 ppm), (2)
Is the water chemistry stable and at the proper levels? First thing you need to do, before anything else, is start testing the water. (1)
Some species of soft coral. Maybe a capnella species.
(3) on the Egyptian ankh.
(2) 8-point star and crescent are both symbols of Islam. Wouldn't think it was gnostic, which is usually a circled cross or some variation
(1) Looks like a Cross Crosslet, usually a heraldic symbol and not a religious one. Similar to the Cross of Jerusalem.
It is, but DAO was referencing Baldur's Gate with it.
That's been happening in a lot more places than California.
