When one makes claims, and those claims hold literally no grounding in reality, then reasonably one does not say "well some things don't need to be understood", one says "I believe what is reasonable, rational, and informed by the best methods of investigation we have." Now where does the supernatural fit into that? A concept without any corroboration scientifically. A concept that has been maladapted by religious zealots for millenia.

The goal is not to have people believe in delusions and be applauded for it. And the idea that without religion, theists would "(be) left with nothing to help them through the hard times" is insultingly ignorant. This isn't a question of "taking someone's religion", it's so people use critical thinking skills. Delusion is not something that should be kept for the sake of tradition of community.
