Every time someone tries to apply that idiom to me, I reply with "Not everyone is a goose. Just because something has a beak, webbed feet, lays eggs, and spends a lot of time in water doesn't mean it's a goose. Sometimes it's a platypus, and something that's good for geese can be detrimental to a platypus."
