23/M I love long walks, eating and staring fondly into space. oh wait this isn't the dating column in a paper! After a long time lurking i've decided to join you rapscallion bunch. Don't take anything I say seriously. . . . no seriously, majority of my comments will be humour orientated.

I agree, it’s staged. Performative empathy. They set up the camera. Have the man look into it whilst singing happy birthday. Even the camera was set up in the car to record their after reactions. Then they engaged in post production to edit all the footage. Why not be nice for the sake of being nice. The world doesn’t need to see it.

Tall grasses are annuals. They will sequester carbon during their lifecycle and release it within the same year when they die. So they are carbon neutral. That being said they will propagate themselves so over time there will more grasses in total. Yet they will still die by autumn and break down releasing their carbon.

You should consider that dependent on the tree species trees will live up to 500 years. With many many summers of producing acorns, seeds, Catkins, and all sorts of self seeded trees.
So whilst yes the carbon will rot and break down once the tree dies the tree will provided opportunities for many more carbon sinks over the years. Also, when a tree rots deteitivores break it down and utilise the carbon themselves. For example, fungus.

Will always upvote this. This was one of my favourite episodes when I was a kid. It helped me believe that I could be the person I always wanted to be.
