Plenty of other countries have little problem supporting cutting edge research without price gouging and exploitation.
Just keep in mind the character is a deliberate parody of many things played horribly straight.
Could be interesting but much like Pacific Rim only as a mindless popcorn flick. Too many silly assumptions to really take it seriously.

Mainly objections focus on either the fact its state mandated and/or changed up many existing insurance plans. (1/2)

Its a government run organization, just on that alone many would assume incompetence. A private entity would have likely done no better.

Maybe teaching people to deal with emotion rather than denying it may have been a better policy for the Jedi. But that would make sense. :p
