I'm just a geologist with too many memes

Out of curiosity, do you know what kind of seizure you had and why?

Elevate your feet, get lots of fluids (not just water, electrolytes. I had a gran mal seizure from too much water washing the salts out of me). If you have insurance, most have to cover any 'emergency' visits to non- network hospitals

Merry Christmas from central Colorado!

I had a really good friend (since passed away 10 days after being the best man at our wedding) that would always say "shit'll buff out" whenever I was depressed. That quote has gotten me through a lot. Hopefully it helps you like it did me

I can't ever say it enough, Mark Loewen is such a nice guy IRL. He's not built for field paleontology, but he is so much fun to hang out with in the field. He also just helped name a new ceratopsian "Lokiceratops" too, so check it out! Neat!

#11 Actually happened to me. Had a seizure, blood (and a second, more sensitive blood test) test showed 'functionally no potassium or magnesium' in my body. Almost died. Wouldn't recommend it!

A tiny (tiny) splash of white vinegar in the beef earlyish on in cooking wakes it up a lot, just don't go crazy with it!

I second this

You should try a UV light on that next. Could make another world of difference too! (maybe)

Sometimes you can get shifts like this without seismic activity. Dunes can slip non-lithified layers like this because of the weight of the sand above. Neat!

The smooth round pucks are crinoids, the rougher round ones are probably coral or bryzoans (same with the fan/mesh looking ones), and the clam/brachiopod impressions are the easiest to tell. Neat!

No joke, I'm 99% sure I narrowly avoided a serial killer in that blue county :/

I knew a girl in HS that got a tattoo in Japanese that she thought said "love and water" or some such nonsense. Turns out it said something like "Uh-Oh, rice"

Candy corn, Peeps/Cadbury eggs, egg nog, etc are all in the same boat. You have one or two to be festive. Those one or two are decent , but stop while you are ahead

I agree with the crinoid theory. It looks more like where a fossil weathered out of the rock than a fossil itself

When I die, have the night crew lower me into my grave, so they can let me down one last time

If it makes any difference, they always sold them at county fairs and the like here as "tobacco pipes". I guess you could technically smoke tobacco out of them if you were determined enough. Just put some loose leaf tobacco in the jar and go with that

In all honesty it looks like an arkose sandstone (relatively high iron content sandstone). The bowl and grooves are probably just where something like a 'mud clast' (chunk of mud/mudstone) got trapped in the sand as it was deposited. Since muds and silts aren't always as resistant to erosion as sandstone, they can erode first and leave weird shapes behind in the sandstone. Also these kind of rocks make great field ash trays. Don't ask how I know.

I would say away from using glass, because I know that someone would drop it. I'd also go to a local 'head shop' and see what kind of small pipes they have. Papers are nice when you have time but they are a pain when you are on the go or outdoors. Your leatherwork is nice and I love the stitching tho
