Names ending in -cester are nearly always shortened to -ster when spoken. Gloucester (gloster), Leicester (lester), Worcester (wuuster)
I'm undecided. I've done it twice. The first loved my gift. The second asked for a $1000 gaming chair and was upset by what I got them.
