No, it was some kind of rangefinder or night vision apparatus. The M47 was obtained from the Dutch army.

I think only the UK used tanks in this manner. Although "Cavalry" tanks were used basically the same way other forces used medium tanks

Yes faster medium tanks, the British cruiser,Crusader,Cromwell tanks etc Also the British operated Sherman's

It was the tactic they used in WW2,"Infantry" tanks being used to support infantry manoeuvres & "cavalry" tanks used to perform flanking etc
