The fact that this post doesn't contain one single dingo pisses me off!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thanks for the pics, I actually play world of tanks

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

So do I. Most of them I recognize from the game.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

War Thunder has my preference, knew some of these tanks as well.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nice pictures, but no effort whatsoever. No descriptions? Come on.

Where is this? I'm pretty sure I went there when I travelled around Oz.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Near Cairns, largest armour collection in the Southern Hemisphere!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why aren't they upside down?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

#5, is that a recoilless rifle atop the gun barrel?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No, it was some kind of rangefinder or night vision apparatus. The M47 was obtained from the Dutch army.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yeah, haven't seen one of those before. Could be an early laser rangefinder, or a training system?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thanks for the reply, you take some good pics. Nice shots of the AML245, with it's 60mm mortar and dual MGs.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is that in Cairns? If so I was there about a year ago.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Yeah, largest collection of armour in the Southern Hemisphere apparently!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Necroposting just to mention that this is the first time I’ve ever seen a Saladin turret on a M113.

Screw APC rides, give me one in the Comet

Here I thought they rode emus into battle. Using koalas as weapons. The endless barrage of gonorrhea and eucalyptus

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Probably outlawed after WW1 with other chemical/biological weapons...

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Gah! Damn bureaucrats! Ruining the dream!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Absolutely gorgeous pictures I can't wait to have a chance to go there myself as well as Bovington and Kubinka. Again absolutely gorgeous.

So much test drive.

Why is it that all the great armor museums are in England or the commonwealth?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thanks to World of Tanks, I could identify most of the tanks.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Stop, my penis can only get so erect!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

#5 is tank kuato.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

All the better for crushing spiders with

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why do they have so many tanks? Isn't it a fucking island?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And sometimes our Mother Country ropes us into helping, occasionally the reckless emancipated little brother gets us involved in shit

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We sit on most of our own fucking tectonic plate and need these fuckers to fend of the fucken Dropbears when th' Vegemite dun do th' job.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Most of those tanks apart from a couple weren't Australian probably got them from the allies during the war and stuff

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Tank posts make me rather randy. v

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Why?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm guessing it's an armored sleeve for the machine gun made to deflect shots from the MG port, otherwise a weak spot.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Lol none of them are Australian...

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

2 of them are, but yes, australia has basically no need to make their own when they can just buy from allies.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Or retreat to the inland and watch the bloody foreigners burst into flames from the heat.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

What is an infantry tank?

9 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

Exactly as OP said yep kind of like infantry fighting vehicles today to serve as a bigger target than the infantryman and also transport.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Ok

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

A slow tank that moves forward at the speed /pace of advancing infantry (old British tank doctrine)

9 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

Oh ok. So when they brought it out, they were preparing for the chance of another trench warfare type of war?

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

It had those capabilities yes, but it was designed for really any situation where speed wasn't important, especially urban combat

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

yes, #3 extra long tracks are designed to pass trenches

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

yes, in a classic case of generals preparing to fight the last war

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Still true today.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It was the tactic they used in WW2,"Infantry" tanks being used to support infantry manoeuvres & "cavalry" tanks used to perform flanking etc

9 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Would the "Calvary" tanks be medium tanks or some more infantry tanks?

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yes faster medium tanks, the British cruiser,Crusader,Cromwell tanks etc Also the British operated Sherman's
