Enironmental protection is the act of protecting what you're used to and have known all your life. The nostalgia you hold dear was once new and disgusting to someone older than you because it replaced what they considered nostalgia. Ultimately everything is just replacing what nature made so if we want to keep the good old days, we should keep nature. Not just the one here now, but also the parts we've never seen with our own eyes.
A football team?
We've been conditioned to believe good things happen to good people and bad things to bad people. The reality is that things just happen to people.
Just so happens to be my favourite way to sleep. We are few but we are probably suffering from back and/or knee pain.
Oh Jeez.. I went offline in June and THIS IS WHAT I COME BACK TO HOLY FUCK YOU GUYS WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK IS THIS JUST HOW?! HOOOOW DID IT ALL GET SO SO MUCH WORSE WHAT THE ABSOLUTE EVERLIVING FUCKINFECTED ABOMINATION OF A TIMELINE IS THIS!!!
A better machine to do that with is a tad safer tho. You don't need to waddle in fear of falling in order to practice the movements, that creates stress which takes away focus from the movement itself thus rendering the exercise futile for some patients.
They have walking robots that are safer to use and mimic the human movement pretty well, even including the arms. They cost about as much as a Ferrari tho.
Verticalisation for wheelchair users can be done in a multitude of ways, doesn't have to involve expensive clunky prototypes. That by itself is not a difficult task to accomplish. As for everyday life, their homes are adjusted and reaching to higher places isn't as necessary. It's more an issue outside, but there we also get uneven surfaces, which this machine isn't doing yet it seems.
Technically it costs two legs. No arms needed.
Well, it's the truth. But this seems to be a prototype as it's not functional for long term use at all.
It's not "just" performance, it's functional independence and very important. I imagine what's happening here is testing by someone who is the target user, and it's fine for the walker thingy to be slow and less able at this stage. But also a wheelchair can do tonnes more than what this video is showing, only real benefit is the verticalisation.
Same goes for humans. Any animal really. *eyes suspiciously at snails*
Technology amazing, yes. Functionally it needs a lot of developing still since so far it seems it can get you to the other side of an even surface very slowly. If she's been in a wheelchair for a decade she likely has the skills to get around much easier. But with further developing this thing could take on stairs and uneven surfaces, plus standing is good for bones so it's amazing regardless. But I wouldn't buy one just yet.
That's way too many steps. In an emergency it needs to be one step and that step has to be intuitive and not hidden behind some corner.
Or you could, you know, have several copies? One gets stolen, ruined, whatever, another one somewhere else survives. The likelihood of all hard drives getting ruined at once is pretty slim.
I have a ton of those bottles. If you don't keep a cap on it it will be filled with shit like dead bugs and cobwebs. Also they're still best used for making wines and ciders.
Did you read the full sentence or just the part you could see outta your ass?
I wonder if it's to do with either realistic precautions or imagined fear over police brutality, insurance scammers, etc.
Indeed. My cat is about that age. Holy shit my cat has been around for 1/3 of my life. And she's the younger of the two. Woah.
Honestly I don't know if this means it's been so long or that I'm still very young.
That indeed. I used to get so many people talking in messages, we'd have long conversations over all sorts of stuff. Now the comments are long (which is nice) and people are swinging from one extreme to another and it's difficult to make friends anymore.
Most other sites depend on algorithms. If you engage with political posts, it'll show you more of them. If you engage with cute bunny videos, you'll get more of that. I've been curating my instagram and youtube feeds to show me content in Spanish and it's a nice scroll when I do scroll. Why I liked Imgur was cos there is no algorithm as such and any content can be randomly thrown at you. But obviously it's US centered and can't help the world being more worried about certain topics.
Same. Have been away for months and I come back to chaos. It's fine though, wasn't even planning on returning full force, just checking in.
There was one other time I returned to Imgur after a break, was when we all chose the loading gif. That was a beautiful time. And in a way this is too, I'm proud of us.
Jesus, yeh. I've been here 11 years maybe? That's exactly a third of my life. What an insane piece of math.
Yep. Was on a nighttime walk post eurovision once, looking for aurora borealis. A lady screamed so loud it could be heard two villages over. Decided against my best interests to investigate, found a hedgehog being attacked by a badger who was too focused to notice my approach. Shooed the badger away and tried to see about the spiky screamer, but it just kept screaming. There were no snakes, might have been a couple mushrooms. No aurora borealis either. Just a hedgehog going AAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Well let me rephrase what was said: cling clang bing bang drill drill whizz chop swoosh ding ding voila.
The thickness of bones in relation to the size of paw is what I meant, bones by themselves look fine. But yeh, swollen explains that part and is apparently what happened.
Something we can discuss about the posted kitten x-ray is the thinness of bones and how spread out they are. One reason for that could be inflammation from something like a bee sting. Another is the lack of a 5th digit, but that might just be cropped out, given how far the "thumb" is on the commented adult cat x-ray. Or it could also be a birth defect.
