That's a but odd. The two genres are have lots or overlap and not mutually exclusive. Things can be both. Star Wars is botb in the Science Fiction and Fantasy genres. And depending on how you view it, all fantasy can be considered science fiction and vice versa.
The biggest difference between what is considered which, is how they explain their fictional world elements. The overwhelming majority of Star Wars is presented and explained as science fiction. With a major fantasy element.
