I love the expresion on the face of the Civil War veteran talking to the kids. He's so happy to talk to them, and they look intrigued.

There was a lot of propaganda by both German and Muslim leaders promoting violence against the Jews. It was largely a result of WWI(1/?)
That was part of the reason, especially in Algeria and Tunisia. Muslims also wanted to keep Jews out of the Middle East/Palestine.
The Nazi and Islamic views aligned well because both wanted the extermination of the Jews and the Muslims wanted Palestine.
As a current history student, I just did a research project on Nazis and Islam. Specific knowledge areas FTW
Additionally, there was at least one concentration camp on African soil. Giado was in Lybia, and there were forced labor camps in Tunisia
But they were willing to work with specific minorities in order to remove others.

There were Muslim SS units in Bosnia, as well as many volunteer units in Africa. Nazi propaganda was all over Syria and much of the Mid East
Actually, it was incredibly successful. I wrote a research paper on the influence of the Islamic world on the outcome of the Holocaust.1/2
