The logic is that film was really expensive and you can save money by only taking 24 images per second which still looked like smooth motion
I don't know where you live, but I would think that firing employees for thinking about unionising is illegal .
They're not frowned upon at all, it's very common to tip at restaurants and cafés. It's just not expected or a big deal if you choose not to

If you have a newer Nvidia graphics card you can use a program called Shadowplay. Just hit a button and record the last few minutes.
It got real heavy by the end. It actually reminded me of the ending of Breaking Bad.
Except Ireland. That shit is dying out though, thankfully.
