My understanding of how it started is that this Dublin cafe owner made a comment about vegans basically thinking they were the best people on the planet. (I can't find where the comment was left) and vegans, for the most part AMERICAN vegans, flocked to his fb page to tear him a new one.
The hero owner, Paul, is obviously joking with every post he puts up. Vegans are shoved too far up their own arses to see that.
Vegans lying about their experience in the cafe. As I said, the majority of the people are American and haven't even visited the cafe.
