We have some of these in the USA. They get about an inch long here in North Carolina.

I'm about an hour away, almost same situation. Nurse that has to work wed and thur nights. Have to leave wife and 1 year old at home.

Mainly to make it pretty, and for practice. Any reason why I shouldn't have stained it?
It was an old hammer I found in a barn without a handle. Was rusted really bad, and I just put it to the wire wheel. I'd guess a mild steel
Also, drawknife is on my list of things to buy, but gotta pay bills first.
Thanks for the feed back. I'm looking to set the head without splitting the handle with a saw. I don't think I can cut straight.

With the oncoming traffic, the car barely had enough time to make it regardless if the SUV had a blinker on or not.
