That's an incredibly needless and above all rude behaviour, damn. The first bit is absolutely correct, with at least 2 weeks or at least talking to boss when you want to go under 2 weeks you can take PTO at any time, obviously. But abandoning your work and puttig it ALL on your coworkers without notice? How fucking rude towards your colleagues. And the 2-week notice thing is just so someone can find a replacement for you so your colleagues aren't fucking swamped. You're a terrible colleague.
