my job adopted a new strategy - mon/fri wfh, tue-thurs wf office. It actually is working out for me really well.

WFH since 2010 and I have moved to a different state while WFH! (Pre-approved). The nearest office is 13hrs by train, so I ain't going back.

3 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

(me) WFH (spouse) why didn't you do the chores today? (me) b/c I was working (spouse) but you were home (me) yes.. WORKING (spouse) but...

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I wouldn't mind working in the office if everyone else worked from home.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

7 years for me; I’ll never work in an office again

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I have had a lot of arguments about it (I love WFH) and basically my thought is let people do what they want as long as they get stuff done

3 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

IT work here -- sys admin. More efficient WFH than I do in office. Fewer interruptions from endusers. #SubmitBloodyTickets

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

On my mandated breaks I can do laundry, run the dishwasher, or take a nap

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

All the pros stated. By all means, go into the office by yourself but don’t complain about no one being there. The rest of us like our lives

3 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 3

Waking up 5 minutes before my shift. Not having someone breathing down my neck all the time also helps. I'm productive and happy.

3 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

WFH since the start of the pandemic. I'll never, ever work in an office again.

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

And if it's not about wanting to return to the office - it's about how employers are seeing drops in productivity (which is the opposite >

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

of true in most cases), or how employers feel like they should pay people LESS for choosing to WFH, or how we've lost sight of the "proper">

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

work+life balance now that we have more time for living and being with family/friends/pets/etc. Such bullshit.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Stop making this one or the other, they both have pros, so work hybrid

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 3

or do one or the other, whatever you prefer, but it should be YOUR choice, not your employer's

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Depends; for my job there are no pros in going to the office, so WFH 100% for me.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

In The Office compromise this would be considered lose/lose. You're still going to force people who don't want to be in office there part

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Time and those that do to wfh part time. It really doesn't solve anything but makes everyone do something they don't want

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

As a construction worker it’ll be hard for me to bang duct from home but I fully support those who can WFH to continue

3 years ago | Likes 66 Dislikes 1

Less traffic for you. It means a lot to have clear roads.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You’re rare. Field personnel at my job raise a shit storm because some people work from home and they can’t. “It’s not fair” they say.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Those ppl are idiots. Tell them I said so and they can come to the site and fight me.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I work in manufacturing & same. Clearer roads & cheaper gas for all!

3 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

As a bartender/bar manger yeah WFH isn't really an option

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Pros: Actually being able to get my work done before the end of the day. At the office its just a constant parade of distractions/people.

3 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

I like WFH once in a while, but I'm a chemist so it's hard to get much lab work done from home.

3 years ago | Likes 81 Dislikes 2

Ben Krasnow does pretty well in his garage.

Just get them to pay for a home-lab. Think of all the things you could use it for!

3 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

"What, exactly, do you need a 55 gallon drum of methylamine for?"

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

i got to spend the last years of both my puppers lives with them. also naps during lunch are pretty dope

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have people at work who hate remote work. I don't get it! I think working from home is THE BEST!!!!

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I started a new job remotely during the pandemic, it was hard to connect with people I had never met in person, happier to be in office now.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We are allowed to wfh 2 days per week which I enjoy, but I like being able to have coffee with colleagues to get to know them.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I get that! For me it's mainly that I have 2 young kids. 2h less commute a day, means 2h more with my kids.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Pro: not having to live somewhere with an exorbitant cost of living just because it's close to the office

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Cons: ….

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Pros: get more time with my pets and son, more comfortable, less distracting, fishing or disc golf on my lunch break

3 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 1

How long is your lunch break?

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I get an hour and luckily I live within walking distance of a really short dg course and a pond that I can fish in.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Wfh gave me my life back and time to pursue hobbies again. I cook, make candles, read again and want to try so much more

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

First work from home job ever, never leaving wfh.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

My daughter is WFH for a Credit Union call center. I'd much rather have that then to have customer support farmed out to a foreign nation 1/

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

2/ with a hundred people all crammed in a small office.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

also, gas fucking expensive.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My cons are eating in my kitchen while on call, Lunch naps in my own bed, not seeing the city I "work" in for 6 months

3 years ago | Likes 83 Dislikes 3

I've found coworkers don't respect WFH worker breaks much. They think I'm working a solid 9 hrs, and think I'm "screwing around" when I 1/

3 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

take a break or go silent while on lunch. Have to set boundaries with folks./

3 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

What do they do when they take breaks, keep working??

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

They're at the office. So their break is a real break, where-as my break is me "screwing off".

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I had a Power Nap on the floor of my office today as I couldn’t be arsed going to the bedroom. Felt much better.

3 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

My work said we were going full remote, you can move states etc. Now they're micromanaging us and threatening return to the office. Sucks.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sigh, if I could, I would work from home...but those animatronics ain't gonna dress themselves...

Give me WFH for 2 days a week. It’s important to interact with coworkers in person. I love WFH but not 100% of the time for me.

3 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 10

You do you, but I am good friends with some coworkers I’ve never met in person, and we get shit done.

3 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 2

I like it a little. I want like 1 day a week. Problem is, most people want 100% WFH so there won't be anyone in the office.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah. Right now I had to fight to keep one day a week and I’m sure at some point they’ll try to take that.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I like both as well. I'm lucky to have the flexibility to choose what's most effective, and end up WFH about 2/3 of the time.

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

I am quite introverted, but after 8 years of working from home, I will say it can get lonely at times. The pros outweigh the cons for sure

3 years ago | Likes 418 Dislikes 9

I guess. If I get lonely, I'll just use the two hours I save from not commuting every day to go out and make friends.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Only thing i miss is somewhere to offload piles of cake to when I go baking on a weekend.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I started to miss small talk in late '20. It was a low point.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

7 years for me, work materials have started to take over my living space and I need to figure out a better way to physically separate.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Set up a weekly or regular lunch date with friends or family. I go visit my mom or meet my husband for lunch.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

i am quite extroverted, and i love working from home. I have my gchat open on a 3rd monitor for constant interaction with my friends.

3 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

I need to find a work from home job, or any job. Sadly little experience has me on track to being in a very bad situation very soon.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Look for call center or support job, they mostly moved to full home office model and require little to no experience

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I've had terrible luck in that regard. I've tried a few different call center jobs, and the interviews went well, but i've not heard back.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

yee problem whit call center is 99% of them requires you to sell shit to just make minimum no mater what they say you was supposed to do.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

and support jobs now requires that you know 3 SQL databases, and 5 diffrent saleforce softwares (whit your own self paid 10K licence).

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

2 years for me and I miss some of the in person time every now and again. I would never want to go back though.

3 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Is it because of your username?

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yes, I'm an introvert and have been wfh since 2010. Before covid, I went in once a week or so, and got to interact with coworkers. It's /1

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

good for keeping relationships (and building new ones with new employees). You *can* do it remotely, but it's never quite the same. That /2

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

being said, I would never give up wfh. It would be nice to see my teammates once in awhile though. Like if every two weeks for our sprint /3

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

demos, those who were able went in, that would be a good touchpoint. /4

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

11 years here. Find others in your city who would co-work. Take turns hosting. Once a week is plenty.

3 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 0

Great idea

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Or use that saved commute time socializing outside of work. Pick up a group hobby like D&D maybe.

3 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

1/ I've been WFH for almost 40 years. It was fine when people still used the telephone; I felt like I had social contact. Over the last few>

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

2/ years the phone has fallen silent. People just want to email. Email doesn't feel like having a conversation does. Now I'm lonely.

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Call people. We do push our WFH teams to interact in different ways.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Call other people while you work? I sometimes call my family or friends when I'm not on the phone during work.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

(Sigh) I live many time zones away from most of the folks I care about. We do chat sometimes but not as often as I'd like.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Take this spare friend to provide company then.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Me and who???

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Uh. Got any more spare friends for me?

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Here you go

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

He is WONDERFUL and my new best friend. Thank you.
