Not exclusively, but I’ll have to admit that the clientele of ICU‘s & Hospice‘s tends to be both old and chronically ill. I’m definitely not going to dispute your personal experience, yet I’d like to mention that I was referring to a population with >>>20 hours of treatment with IV fluids. Those poor souls tend to get thirsty after a while, regardless how much IV we give them :/ Same can’t be said for natures calling though;P
Ackhtually… While IV fluids do help, if people don’t drink/increase saliva production (lemon drops etc.) they will be feeling thirsty. Reason why every ICU/Hospice has synthetic saliva readily available. Source: worked in both establishments
