I almost got this information too late. Working through the burnout without ever really recovering for decades does not put you in a good place. Thankfully my youngest was clued in by friends at university and being a supporting parent we gave the Dr her childhood background. Somehow that conversation turned into being mostly about me and suddenly I'm diagnosed shortly thereafter. Still struggling to survive, but at least I'm struggling now.
I totally get the fear. Part of my challenge was always that I constantly felt like I was failing while everyone was expecting me to succeed. Seeking help would just be showing everyone that I really was a failure and not worth their time or space. That road does not lead to happiness.Get yourself checked. It blows my mind that we reached a point not too many years ago where we had halfway decent USB steering wheel setups for under $50, and joysticks under $20. Quality has improved for the high-end stuff, but this has somehow dragged the low end pricing up to $150 and $100 for the same exact molds.
They are literally justifying it to themselves right now as, "she was asking for it," and "those girls went looking for attention." They need to justify it, so they can justify abuse when it happens around themselves. I finally got it when I realized that the one Trump supporting mother I worked with would talk big about how she would deal with a pedophile. Made her feel good. Not once did they ever say anything about protecting the kids. Nothing about teaching kids.
