Good heavens

Hell yeah Mark Felton rocks. He's a little over-sentimental about imperialism sometimes but I can forgive that because his content is good.

Sounds like mid-level management to me

I agree with your outlook as I am a progressive. Both sides put the interest of capital before people, they just have different methods of convincing us to be submissive worker drones. Conservatives want people to take pride in their enslavement and liberals want to trick everyone into thinking they aren't enslaved because they are all "equally" enslaved. I'm not talking about the average citizen here, rather a broader perspective on the ideologies of the establishment politicians.

In America I find a lot of this has to do with a combination of the protestant work ethic + cold war era propaganda brain rot. Many middle aged working class people will be happy to point out how shitty our system is but they've been tricked into thinking it's all the Democrats fault and that the Republicans are the solution via cutting down "big 'gubment." It's pretty sad, smart enough to see the issue, not smart enough to do anything about it. I'm in TN so I'm sure it's better elsewhere...

Cows aren't intelligent like dogs but they have big emotional capacity like dogs. They definitely understand tone if nothing else, and they also form bonds with their keepers in situations where they are actually socialized.

Please don't there's no more room and housing prices are thru the roof. I'm a native and I can't even entertain the thought of buying a house in my hometown (Knoxville) because people with out of state incomes keep buying up property and that has jacked up the market value of everything :( fucking dimwitted conservative "refugees from blue states", not you. It still wouldn't help though, we would both just be homeless together...

The scarier this neighborhood is to that animal, the less likely it is to return. FAFO.

Military intervention would never really work to change the hearts and minds of southerners. I'm speaking as a native southern leftist and tbh it's much easier to break thru to them to calmly and rationally discuss their beliefs in good faith and probe them with light questions that guide them in a rational direction. It's not effective en masse and we need a huge public education reform, but it works. People aren't inherently stupid, but they are ignorant. Take Daryl Davis for example.

I'm not here to shit on individuals but I also don't feel like Gen X as a voting block is an ally to the left. My diehard conservative parents are gen Xers and share way more in common with boomers than millennials or myself. As a matter of fact, I'd say gen Xers have more of a "fuck you I got mine" mentality than boomers at this rate... Chalk it up to being ground up by the system I guess...

Some do it for attention, others do it because a superiority complex has been instilled in them. I grew up in the type of environment they are describing and honestly consider myself very lucky to have personally reformed my ways. I was a very alt right 16yo and I'm a very progressive left 23yo. Many of my peers didn't follow suit...

That's not taking the lord's name in vain, it's closer to blasphemy. Taking the lord's name in vain is more like conflating the scripture to fit a political narrative... Oh wait...
