It starts with two nuns walking into a bar.

5 years ago I was fired, lost my self worth. Worst time of my life. Now, things are better than I could have imagined. Hang in there.

What's the deal with the seal? Does it think what it feels is a meal?

Didn’t know they had Cocoa Puffs inside

Neat

That’s really interesting. What’s KDD? Also, isn’t ML a subset of AI? Meaning it has the same characteristics as monkeys do to humans?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

65%! I didn’t know that. That’s crazy. That AI does seem limited to stocks though, which sounds more machine learning, rather than true AI?

The point is that other harmful decisions can be made outside of self preservation. Doesn't have to be stocks. What's HFT?

My understanding is that ML is the closest thing to AI, but technically speaking doesn't qualify. Is this debatable or misunderstanding?

Machine learning and AI are different. Machine learning sticks within set parameters. AI learns how to think outside those.

Self preservation isn’t the only threat. Say you tell AI to grow your stocks... it learns war brings up stocks, invests, and starts a war.

Didn’t he create a solar autonomous aircraft that gives free internet to Africa? I vaguely remember something like that.

Oh wow, I'm dumb. I put the tags in the description.

What is that, an 87? I used to have an 83... 1st gen model. Loved that thing.

It's good advice, that you just didn't take

Write, "does not live here," then USPS is supposed to stop all mail with that name delivered to that address. Source: I asked my mailman.

Adrenaline can be controlled.

Not to say it's his fault though. She's clearly a bigger rage monster... Just saying that one person could have changed that outcome.

I ride a bike to work, and if I kicked a mirror everytime someone cuts me off or almost kills me, I'd probably have died like 40 times.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

To be clear, she is clearly the one who is at more fault. I'm just saying if he acted a bit differently, it could have maybe been avoided.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Kicker a mirror is not fighting back. Remember what you were taught. Defensive driving, not offensive. Fighting back = offensive.

To compare your analogy with this story, the cop would have provoked the hostage taker, then shot him. Could have been a better outcome.

I just don't see these things as black and white. Life is complicated, man. Especially when dealing with people's intentions.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

You're speaking into intent, which neither of us know for sure. Since it was only 3 years in jail, the courts decided not attempted murder.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

This isn't attempted murder. She's not intending to kill. She's just retaliating with a bigger weapon than he has. Both are wrong here.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

Agree, it's totally understandable, and he deserves more empathy for sure. Choose your battles though.
