I hear what you're saying, and I'd probabaly agree if I was more informed, but have you considered kids not giving a crap about hygiene and the gross build up of crusty cheese that might (repeatedly) occur? Between the option of an early medical procedure and repeat visits to the doctor/surgeon(?) for getting rid of that crap and whatever else might apply, I'll vote for the former.
