TMI

Apr 30, 2023 6:57 PM

This is your TMI warning.

I'm no dick detective. Not a penis aficionado or erection expert, but I feel like mine doesn't fall clearly within either of the main chop / no-chop groupings.

This first came up when one girlfriend made an offhand comment like "well you're circumcized, so."
I don't even remember the context, just the mild confusion I reacted with.
I always assumed I wasn't, I guess because I have the whole turtleneck thing going when deflated for easy storage.
Since then I've sheepishly brought it up with a couple other girlfriends who have all reacted the same: laughing at the unexpected and slightly awkwardness of it, and then investigating and coming to the same "huh that is weird. I'm not sure." conclusion.

It is a piggy in a blanket when stowed for travel, but not enough to cover the head.
Once fully deployed the skin isn't tight but there's no excess baggage.
There is a bit of a line in the foreskin that some have claimed to be scar tissue but it could just as easily be a tan or something.

And I am not about to call up my mother and be like "Hey mom, did you and dad get me the old dick chop? How did that discussion go?" My knowledge is not worth that awkwardness.

So, yeah. My dong might be a little weird.

To be clear, I'm not at all stressed about it but it does make for a good conversation starter.

Edit: This post has been marked mature, because apparently having a penis counts as a "non explicit sexual experience"

I feel like this could be an acceptable situation for guys to send @op some dick pics!

Send me a picture of your dick, I'll tell you.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I ain't a dick inspector, but seems some au naturel guys have a warm weather "partial chub" on, where the tip is turtlenecked, but full cold and shrunk it's enough foreskin for a "pull tab" to dig it out your underwear to piss.

Sounds like a congrats on having leftover peen are in order

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

If your glans is keratinized (i.e. - a bit tougher from constant friction), you're circumcised

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

A bit tougher THAN WHAT? Is there a standard reference model I can mail order?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My mom did this shit with me. It was a trend for a while. Its a half circumcision. They still put the infant through all the pain and torture of the snip job, but they only take half of it, so the rim of the penis is still somewhat protected. Its some naive bullshit they did for a while for parents who didnt want to circumcise their infants, but also didnt want them to stand out or be weird when they got older. All the torture, no added benefit. Just how the bible likes it.

Pain and torture?

Sounds circumcised. You out there tanning a circle around your dick? That’s a surgical scar

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

As long as it gets the job done and you're either A) not in any discomfort or having any tightness of that foreskin or B) having UTI's - then I'd say don't worry about it, but you're already not, so that's cool.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Lol.. A tan line on your peen? No. You got chopped bud!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It’s called a mock-turtleneck, you’re good, bro. Don’t let it stress you out.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have also had this quandary the other way round.. thought I was circumcised but am told I wasn’t. But it looks like it is. Happy to chat and have a broment. (We can play when doves cry if it helps)

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If the head is not visible (covered by the foreskin) while flaccid, that's uncircumcised. The foreskin is supposed to retreat when erect. And the line is a natural part of your body. There is no 'line' from circumcision. The fact it is not fully covered is the fact your body grew unevenly. This is not bad. Each person is different. 1/2

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 4

You're very likely a 'grower' rather than a shower, which is why it expands fully (giving the appearance of being circumcised when erect) more-so than some other uncircumcised men. This is in no way bad, nor is it a bodged circumcision. If you speak to a doctor, I guarantee they'll say the same. (though in more medical terminology) 2/2

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

I’ll gladly check for you

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Foreskins come in different proportions, and circumcisions don't always chop of the same amount so this really isn't unusual. If it really matters to you, there will probably be a circumferential scar around the shaft & that's how you can tell.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Different dicks are different, but it sounds like you're probably uncircumcised.

2 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 4

You're circumcised. But ask your doctor to confirm. No shame in it, they didn't give a class in recognizing unaltered anatomy unless maybe you went pre-med.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just ask your parents, what’s awkward about it?

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Look here Mr. "I have a healthy relationship with open lines of communication", my family has to be on the verge of tears before saying we love each other. THIS is not something that can be so easily brought up.

2 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 2

Maybe ask this: “what factors influenced your decision to circumcise or not circumcise me?”

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Send them a dick pic and then ask them

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

There it is.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Now I am involuntarily imagining not only you tanning your dick, but you putting a little tank top on it first so that it gets tan lines.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sounds like a sloppy circumcision. Not all of them are done with the greatest quality control in mind.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

Having children is so expensive these days. Can you really blame his parents for going to the discount Mohel? He said it would be...half off.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Hahah they're Canadian. Wouldn't need a discount doctor

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Mohels work for tips anyways

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Just the tips...

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sounds like circumcised, but not very well if it's half and half. But yeah, take it to the vet.

2 years ago | Likes 75 Dislikes 3

As long as it's not half and half vertically should be fine.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

https://www.healthline.com/health/mens-health/partial-circumcision Hey actually it's a thing @OP, my doctor only cut half.

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Same^ i got the half cut also. Probably what @op is looking at

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

@OP are you Patrick Stewart? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8utAagjD8SE

2 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 1

No, but I love that we have that in common now. I'll be sure to bring it up if I ever met him.

2 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

I think you’re describing a “low and tight” type of circumcision. There are different techniques apparently for how much foreskin you actually remove. ALSO PARENTS, PLEASE STOP CHOPPING BABY DICKS

2 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 4

It has sound medical reasons. Go tell the doctors how you know better than they do

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Please provide evidence of your sound medical reasons. With proper hygiene education, the incidence of phimosis and paraphimosis is low. Nobody deserves to have their genitals mangled before they even get the chance to appreciate them.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Its a good thing circumcision isn't mangling a penis then. They still work just the same.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I hear what you're saying, and I'd probabaly agree if I was more informed, but have you considered kids not giving a crap about hygiene and the gross build up of crusty cheese that might (repeatedly) occur? Between the option of an early medical procedure and repeat visits to the doctor/surgeon(?) for getting rid of that crap and whatever else might apply, I'll vote for the former.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 7

You must be one of the people who don't flush the urinal and don't wash their hands

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Not just that but the rise in STDs as well as the decrease in risk of the infant getting a bladder infection is sound medical reasons for it. I haven't heard a sound medical reason for keeping the foreskin besides the tiny risk of the doctor screwing up

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

The rise in STDs? That's definitely not because of foreskins and generally due to promiscuity. Only thing that fixes that a bit is condoms.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

It cuts down on the spread of disease

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

As a boy who encountered crusty cheese before i was 5 and never heard the end of it from my elders... it stops once you start paying attention to your dick and clean it. Thankfully i wasnt mutilated for a damn yeast infection.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

It’s fucking weird then that adults aren’t lining up to have this done, it’s always permanent modification of children’s genitals.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Adults do get it done for one thing. The other is its a much different procedure and recovery for an adult to have it done.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

Great! Then vote with your body once you’ve made it to an age to make such a decision for yourself. Allow everyone the same courtesy.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Its a much different procedure and recovery to have it done as an adult. Can you give me a sound medical reason to not have it done?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

I agree that it’s different to have done as an adult! Longer recovery and more memory of the unpleasantness. Acute and delayed consequences may include: bleeding, infection, injury to the penis, incomplete circumcision, excessive skin removal, adhesions, meatal stenosis, phimosis, inclusion cysts… to name a few. Electively modifying your child’s penis is also creepy. So I’d put that in the risks column.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

You don't actually get it then. It's not just remembering. When you're an adult your penis goes erect several times throughout the night. That means the place you got cut stretches while you are trying to sleep.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

And you are listing side effects of an improperly done procedure and care. What are the medical reasons for not having one done that isn't botched?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

I mean, If you need another opinion.....

2 years ago | Likes 96 Dislikes 2

As a doctor.. I fully endorse your clinical judgement

That's an American issue

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

*laughs in Canadian*

2 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

How old are you? Just by statistics if your're a relatively young Canadian, it's more likely you're uncut.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm in my late 30s. Getting cut was somewhat popular here when I was born. I *THINK* most of my peers were snipped.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I guess it varies by region too. I'm also in my late 30s but uncut, and where I'm from circumcision is pretty rare.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My doctor is a Muslim woman. My understanding is that she's not allowed to look or touch at man bits unless it's to treat a medical issue. My idle curiosity about something that doesn't materially affect my life doesn't really count.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

She could literally just go get a male staff member.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Understanding your own body is a medical issue, not an idle curiosity. If she balks, get a doctor who is capable and willing to properly support you. This is no different a question than "what is this lump?"

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

You could ask. Helping you to understand your body is part of her role. She may consider that falls into "acceptable interaction with man bits"

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Does this look normal to you? is a medical question

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Not even a newborn infant?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's not a quality I'd want in my Dr.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

You can ask if she has a colleague who can come in and take a look

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I’m assuming she’s a good doctor. This is a legitimate medical question. If you can’t ask your doctor a serious question about a body part, you wind up going on the internet and getting advice from untrained morons, myself included.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I *can* ask. It's just not important enough to me to ask. But I thought sharing it on the internet would be good for some laughs

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I’m a doctor. You’re not circumcised.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

Any doctor that would speak with that much confidence and finality without seeing it for themselves is not a doctor I'd want to be a patient of.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

If you're fully circumcised then the tip wouldn't be covered

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Just trying to help. If a grown man came to me for an office visit asking if he was circumcised I’d be annoyed. If you really want to know the truth then ask your folks.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

Maybe you’re a bad doctor. You’d be a bad therapist.
