I may just be a large, bearded Viking-American, but I've got a special place in my heart for work stories and adorable comics. That and funny stuff...

When the US no longer has four of the five largest air forces in the world, then I’ll consider they might be doing well.

Having some factories that can make weapons and actually using those factories to make weapons on a scale that can match the US are two very different things. Europe has slacked off and let their guard down and they cannot afford to keep relying on the US for protection or even peace.

Yeah. Scale would be the issue. Europe does not match the scale of the US. That’s what I’m saying. Obviously there ARE weapons manufacturers in Europe but they’re not large enough to compete with the US and they’ve let themselves get WAY behind. The US has four of the five largest air forces and the largest navy by tonnage.

And yet they kept buying them. Europe really should have seen this shit coming and prepared better. The US has never really been a reliable partner and should not have been relied on so heavily.

But it was a lot cheaper to let the US be the only superpower in the West instead of building their own weapons industries and militaries. Now we’re all fucked because the US is controlled by an evil regime and none of the good guys have the power to stop them.

Christianity has never been about “objectively following the teachings of Christ” especially given the literal hundreds of thousands of denominations, interpretations, and “personal relationships” that all think those teachings are different.

Oh yeah, and you’re getting those teachings come from a book he did not write, composed after his death, formalized hundreds of years later, and translated countless different ways into thousands of language that didn’t even exist when he was alive.

An astronaut has a definition based on measurable facts.

Christianity is a religion which, by definition, is not based on measurable facts. The only thing that matters is what you believe. They believe they’re christians and that makes them so.

So? They’re still christians. You don’t get to only claim the ones you like. They go to church, believe in the christian god, call themselves christians... they’re christians.

No. They are christians. You don’t get to only claim the good ones.

Lots of christians suck. Y’all should work on that.

We’re not your mother and aren’t here to listen to you cry about how mean the liberals were to you

Because they see fire safety as a cost while security and employee monitoring is a means of control.

He could also be both a town guard and a fireman. No reason to assume the two are separate professions in this world.

I heard that Iran blew up one of their houses. I don’t know if that’s true but I hope they got to experience firsthand what they mocked and it sparked a realization of humanity in them.

Not everyone is traumatized by the same things. I am sorry you deal with this every day and I hope you can heal. Not everyone would feel the same as you did afterward though.

Political power grows from the barrel of a gun. If you want power, if you want equality, you need to recognize that and stop relying on a government that doesn’t care about you to protect you.

Maybe protesters need to start carrying guns to make sure the protests stay peaceful. These thugs would stop doing this shit if they started getting shot when they tried it.

It’s an easy standard because it’s easy to standardize. Yes, it would be more difficult to standardize EVs to the point of automating replacements but that doesn’t make it undoable. At the very minimum, we could standardize the batteries themselves so they’re interchangeable between vehicles and brands in the same way we created fuel standards so we only need one fuel type for like 90% of consumer vehicles and like three fuel types for 99% of all vehicles.

It’s doable.

The thing that ensures compatibility between every single car and every single fuel pump? Yeah. That’s the standard that’s being enforced.

Not gonna bike 15 miles of highway to get to work.

And you’re assuming mocking a high profile drug addict makes you a fascist. You are playing teams instead of looking at things that actually matter. Someone can attack some on “your side” without being a member of “the other team” because this isn’t sports and we’re not a club.

That can’t be true. Players hit MLB pitcher’s pitches all the time.

Clearly, the most difficult skill in sports is making a basketball free throw even though it’s literally the exact same throw every single time from the exact same place into the exact same hoop.

I would gladly depend on morphines for the rest of my life if it meant I would never have to worry about paying for anything I or my loved ones need ever again.

So? Does that automatically mean he hates gay people and supports pedophilia? Pretty sure Jon Stewart made fun of Hunter Biden too and I think you’d be hard pressed to call him MAGA.

You could force that to standardize too in the same way every ICE car has a hole that’s exactly the same size to accept the pump that’s exactly the same at every gas station.

I don’t think someone deserves to die just because they’re a hunter. Big game hunts often fund the conservation efforts necessary to preserve endangered species.

That said, yeah, if you’re trying to kill something and it kills you, that seems like a pretty fair death.

What the fuck dies that have to do with outlawing forced microchipping???

“A bad law was passed so we should never pass any good ones” is one of the dumbest takes I’ve ever fucking heard.

He is a piece of shit, absolutely.

“This probably won’t happen” is not a valid reason to not outlaw obviously bad shit though. This is something that COULD happen and it’s much better to have the law in place before they try instead of waiting until after people get hurt to act.

Coding agents get forced on devs and engineers every fucking day. Companies are all about getting AI into their workflow. My company literally has half a dozen people getting paid 6-7 figures just to PROMOTE AI usage, not even to implement it, they’re not engineers, their only job is trying to convince people in the company to use it more.

You say that but your government makes it really quite difficult to actually do that…
