For our currently used space technology yes. Technically we do have the technology to throw nukes out the back of a spaceship and ride the explosion, yes, that that sounds insane, but it's likely the best method for any civilization that does not have at least one of the following to attempt interstellar colonization; A dyson sphere/swarm (To utilize ablative lasers for thrust), A/AM thrust or FTL drives.For high power thrust/sustainable thrust/ftl as in Futurama, direct is better.

I know this, because daily, i drive past a memorial to someone killed pulling out from an intersection on a blind corner, when someone was doing just 10k(6m)ph over the speed limit swerved around the blind corner and couldn't stop. If they had not been speeding, they could have avoided the accident. Instead, they squashed the deceased into a telegraph pole. Speed limits are not arbitrary.
