It seems I made this name inaccurate within minutes of making the account. Tragic.

WWI was not what he had in mind, or at least it wasn't quite the same beast as the stuff that he really had frustrations about. He still had his bones to pick about that and how soldiers were used, but his main contention was about the Boxer Rebellion/Bannana Wars and so on - almost entirely economically driven, but sold to the people (and soldiers) as matters of ideology

there's a lot to be said about poor preparation for the attack that was expected, and letting american planes in the philippines get hit on the ground even AFTER knowing pearl harbor just happened, but those are different and what you're conveying is straight up conspiracy peddled by welch and his ilk

the us definitely did not know about pearl harbor ahead of time. the us knew there was an attack coming, and presumed it was going to be in the philippines, preparing for that (an attack that ALSO happened, just a few hours later)

What he did is EXACTLY what Thomas Drake recommended, a man who went through the process the 'right' way, stayed and had his life ruined.

Counterpoint: Thomas Drake who is a much better direct comparison

this is exactly what they decided; 9-0 decided 1st amendment violation by BP doesnt go through the court, 6-3 decided excessive force doesnt

In short, no tort IRT federal agents, redress has to be by congressional action which is crazy; also not going to happen for anyone wronged

It's not about the circumstances of the case, it's that the Supreme Court DID cut-and-dried say that you cannot get redress from the courts

Id strongly recommend a reread of federalist 29

Have you seen that quote from the hogfather? "What if she cuts herself?" "THEN THAT WILL BE AN IMPORTANT LESSON" It's like that.

That's completely true, but not in the amounts required to move the market like you're suggesting

Where in the world did you get that impression? The SI/float didn't move at all

Why are we still getting Robinhood/Citadel memes when its already clear clearing houses and liability were the issue?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

I get that it's hyperbole, don't care. I have to deal on a daily basis with the specific mischaracterization you're perpetuating

already vulnerable. Some specific problem institutions have had larger scale releases, but that's far from the norm. 5/5

short of murders. Even if we put that aside, even YOUR source is specifically about granting compassionate release to those who are (4/?)

business and don't care. Her alleged crimes are completely irrelevant to the fact that, no, prisons are not just emptying out (3/?)

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The fact that what you said is a mischaracterization of the current state of the prison system. I don't know about the Riley Williams (2/?)

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'll concede there absolutely is a current standing push to prioritize house arrests over imprisonment, but that's nothing to do with (1/?)

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There are states which have worked on reduction of prisoners, but that characterization is staggeringly far from the state of things.

My brother and I were both in the military - telling people we just met when asked if we were related was one of my few joys.

Maybe, but I had a marine under me for a while whose dad was Aryan Brotherhood (with the pictures to prove it) who said it was being in 1/2

Short answer: There are there were significant limits to filibustering even before it was hobbled in the middle of obama's presidency.

It's curious, I see a lot of comments like this, people forget how much modern internet culture can be traced directly to 4chan good and bad
