They are one of the oldest living couples in America. Marcia can really only say “hello, hello” but she seems to have some sort of understanding of her surroundings. Arthur is a beautiful man and so incredibly in love with Marcia.

every time I see something like this I have to painfully remember us and my gramma watching my buelo fade away & lose knowledge of us :'(

My grandfather is 96 and his dementia is so bad now. We all know it's just a matter of time. No regrets though. 96 is a good, long life.
amartrey
1) they're cute as can be 2) they don't look even 90! ❤

One day, I hope to be just half the man he is and look at my wife with the same love in my twilight as I do now. I would be a lucky man.

favoriting this as a reminder to live the moment. This is so beautiful and sad that I fail to know which one is the more sincere emotion.

So many of us will never find that kind of love.

Truth be told... I made myself tear up making this last gif! ;)

This reminds me.of my great grandma who could only say "yes", but was the definition of kind stubbornness (in the best way)

I see these comments a lot, but this is actually the first time a gif has made me cry. When she kissed his hand...
CuteLukePatoot
All she says is 'hello, hello,' but look at how she kisses his hand; her eyes and that smile speak volumes. She knows what's going on.

A stroke can destroy a person's language center, so that they can still understand language but can't talk. Happened to my grandfather.
temotodochi
Met one old guy at the mall who could only curse anymore. No tourettes, but a stroke. Also only with the strongest curses in our language.
CuteLukePatoot
Happened to my grandpa, too. That's why I look at this so optimistically.
HeresSomeMoneyGoSeeAStarWar
Dunno whether to say 'awww' or be depressed.
Lolgomyaggro
“Awww” because they experienced love, something that most do not ever get. But that’s just like my opinion man
KharnTheAngry
You can say "hello hello"

We will all die someday. It's nothing to be sad about, you can't stop it. Be happy that these two got to share their lives together!

Why not both?
cakeycakes
It’s sad because of their age but also beautiful because of it. When she kisses his hand... she may not be able to talk, but that was love.
HeresSomeMoneyGoSeeAStarWar
to be clear, the “depressed” comment has nothing with do with their state. They’re very fortunate. No, it’s because I’m a little jealous.
ZircZZ
Why be depressed? They had a very long life together and still love each other. Look at the little gestures. That is to be joy full about.
HeresSomeMoneyGoSeeAStarWar
Lol. I’m not depressed for them. Quite the opposite
dbrsong
My great grandma lived 104yrs 1897-2001. Just think about that. She saw EVERYTHING
dbrsong
She lived in 3 centuries
mialynneb
My great grandma lived 1900-1991. I was too young to think to ask her her life experiences :(

My uncle was smart enough to record it on cassette tape. It's awesome you can hear the rocking chair going the whole time. Such cool stories
insensitivecow
I had an elderly patient on my hospital service whose wife had dementia. She didn't speak, but she'd kiss him on his O2 mask. It was sweet.

Watching them interact was so lovely, they made me cry in his room the one day.

Just think, Pan Am flew the first commercial flight across the Pacific the year they got married (1937)

In those dangerous times, the threat of cloud-riding sky pirates was still very real. How far we've come.
srslydude
My grandmother hadn't even been born yet.
IWasInThePool
Pan Am flew its last flight 26 years ago. They could have gotten divorced and remarried and had another long marriage in that time.

It feels like the world is changing technologically slower than it used to. In my lifetime I've only witness screen addiction.

I'd strongly disagree, in my 20+ years I've seen the entirety of commerce and social interaction completely revolutionize.

I was a teenager during the 90’s. I went from phones attached to walls to my phone having the entire collective knowledge of the human race.
