Fun facts about glass: it is heavy, it is expensive, and it breaks.
barwickbecky
As a glass artist, can confirm.

It is also constantly under tension and as such is a very predictably unpredictable thing.

More fun facts about glass: it hates Mexican food, once shat its pants at a party (fact related), and is addicted to amphetamines

Yeah, she straight up broke it, when she grabbed it she pulled up on just that one corner over flexing the glass and shattering it
Exactly that. An example of being too helpful backfired.
90om136x2
Well tbf they were gonna break it carrying it like that anyways
DegenLite
Na, she nudged it into the opposite corner, you can't break that glass just by grabbing it. Source glasshandler thats works with glass.
glovelyday
Nah, the break starts at the upper left. Glass must have bumped the jamb. She may have caused it, but it was the bump not the lift.
sjm127
lol. I like the placid look of innocence after she breaks it.
TacoFox
Never carry your flat screen TVs this way.

Can someone explain the physics?

the lady lifted the corner and the glass couldn't take the strain. if you slow it down you can see
RickBo
Laminate Tempered glass, Due to the way they were trying to fit the pane put it under too much stress and it broke.
tempered pane is strong until it breaks in the slightest then the entire pane minorly explodes. the laminate keeps all the pieces in place.
They should've carried the pane vertically and set the pane onto the bottom of the frame instead of tilting the pane up from bottom.
Note: never carry a piece of glass horizontally if you can possibly avoid it.

Is there a best way to set it down? I ask because I have a small wicker outdoor table with a glass top and I carry the top 1/2
Vertically but when I go to set it down it always warps like it wants to break2/2
Just don't set it down on a "point". A point load can cause it to break. If necessary set it down on a towel and then slide the towel out.
tacopartyinyourmouth
Could you explain for a layman? Why is vertical better than horizontal?
Easier to carry.
PunnyDragon
Not an expert, but would guess there is less risk of overflexing it when carried vertical.
dustygamedev
Glass is heavy, and the middle is rarely going to get the support it needs to not break under the stress.
Thanks! That makes sense
reload2456
Glass heavy, gravity goes down, horizontal the glass is very thin, vertical the glass is very thicc 1/4in vs 8ft thick glass resisting grav.
So horizontal it bends because it's the same weight but only 1/4in thick and once it bends too far it breaks because glass is quite brittle
McSkeevely
Always wear gloves and eye protection too
cre8majic
and three of them are wearing sandals, which is a mistake should the shards fall all over your legs and feet
Can confirm, have had glass in my leg before, not a fun time. (actually an interesting story).
Friend was moving a glass topped table, glass broke all around his feet... in sandals. He was out of comm for the rest of the day
ugh! glad you're around to tell it!
