Do small things with great love

Dec 3, 2016 6:00 PM

Last week 53 year-old Justin Normand decided to make a sign, drive to the nearest mosque, and stand on the public sidewalk. He turned his sign towards the mosque.

"This was about binding up the wounded. About showing compassion and empathy for the hurting and fearful among us. Or, in some Christian traditions, this was about washing my brother's feet," explained Normand.

As a Muslim, 10/10 would hold up sign next to him that says "we belong together" and sing Mariah Carey's music.

9 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 3

I would sing Canned Heat's "Let's Work Together" with them.

It's unfortunate that being a decent human is news worthy but good on this gentlemen for being a good man.

9 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 3

If it wasn't newsworthy, how would we be properly alerted so we can stamp it out?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I made the mistake of reading the Facebook comments on this. My faith in humanity is on its' last legs

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 3

I'm just going to up vote this every time it shows up on the front page.

Love to see a guy in a cowboy hat and a sign with a positive message

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I should make a sign that says "I don't give a shit if you're here or not". Then go stand in front of literally anywhere

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Don't judge a book by its cover

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 3

Meanwhile, my friend who posted a 'war against Christmas' video, commented on a different video saying he wished a suspect got run over.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

Can people stop with this 'war on Christmas' thing? As a hardcore Christian, one of the freedoms in North America is that if someone 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

wants to say "happy holidays," they can. Also, it's ironic that those are the same ppl complaining about how others get easily offended 2/2

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Some Americans really get America. This dude is one. I would stand by his side anytime, anywhere.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We are a nation of ideals, if you agree with those ideals and want to live by them, we welcome you with open arms.

9 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 5

On the other hand, if you think you deserve special treatment because you're white, male or Christian, you'll run in to trouble.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 12

I didn't say everyone born here lives up to them, calm down.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

What sort of magical cup is the lady holding?

9 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

It's a ... clock

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 8

Colored cellophane. Wrapped up like a gift (likely with hot chocolate or similar inside). Possibly for him, if they are that BA prepared :p

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Too bad Muslims don't do the same with religious minorities living in Muslim nations.

Error, Malaysia and Indonesia?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

There are tons of great Americans like him all over Texas and this great nation who remember we're a melting pot. Media focuses on hate.

9 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 2

We aren't a melting pot. We encourage separation, distinctions, and divisions. That's the "salad bowl" format.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 5

No one encourages anything. We all do as we please in America, the only true borders are in your head.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The media does. The sheep follow that to embrace hate. The truth is that we're all the same on the inside. Embrace our differences.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

Embrace our differences, exactly. I don't think it's about hate. Idk what it is. But melting pot would be setting aside the differences and

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

building on common ground. Instead we're promoting labels like "minority", celebrating all the differences like they're important.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

people that blindly hate muslims are hilarious. have u ever asked them why they hate muslims? the answers exemplify how trump got elected

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 7

Blindly hating anything is flawed. Do you assume criticism of islam and / or islamic immigration to be blind hate?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I think your comment better exemplifies how Trump got elected.

Apparently Sam went to my highschool, and it's like the least Western place I can imagine.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

It ain't a place, dude. It's a state of mind.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Forgive me. But where is this from?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Big Lebowski. :)

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

*white Muslims... I know first time I met one, in high school, was pretty jarring. Dude would read the Koran in class, chew on a twig, quiet

9 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 6

He might have been chewing on miswak. A teeth cleaning twig!

9 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 2

Yep! Interesting things to learn when you're all interested and unbroken by life yet... he was nice, but moved and dressed like a gangbanger

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

That..took a turn

9 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Lol. It was a weird class. From drug dealers to the "advanced" children. "Space sciences" bought one of my first doobs there.. white rhino..

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Qu'ran?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Both are correct.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ty!

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

I thought both were correct

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

after looking it up, i guess so, but still not really.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think "Koran" is the more archaic, anglicised version, whereas "Qur'an" is the more modern and culturally correct/accepted version. Cheers

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Texas needs more people like him

9 years ago | Likes 279 Dislikes 28

America*

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Texan here, people are friendly in the cities, they're big and culturally diverse. It's the podunk towns in between who are xenophobic

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Are you from Texas? If so, where from?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nope, Canada

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's called Austin, austin is a great place with great people

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 3

So are Houston, Dallas and San Antonio. The Texas Triangle should be its own state

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

fuck Austin. It is full of drunk Californian ex-pats who ruin the whole damn city.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

The world needs more people like him. Especially in positions of power.

9 years ago | Likes 97 Dislikes 3

Seriously, imagine having a president or members of congress that show that level of human compassion

9 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Bernie Sanders 2020!

9 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Muslim countries also need more muslims like him...

Texas, has plenty of people like him and me. The news and stories always tell tales of the shitty kind of texans. Because ratings

9 years ago | Likes 75 Dislikes 5

Why all the hate for Texans? We have the nicest people in the USA. Mexican person perspective btw.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Texan here. Come out to the sticks. There's plenty of bonkers people here too.

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Ok... DankCentral420

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

Friendliest darn people I ever encountered.Imgurians should get out of their mom's basement and visit there.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I love Texas, but some of the laws that are passing just make me sad.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 3

Every state has laws that wrong someone.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

The beauty of law is that we can always change it.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

This. I am a Texan and a conservative. The media focuses on what will get people to watch, not the truth.

9 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 2

It's not media even. It's people. People focus on the negative. I can't drive on I30 in DUE without seeing a cop helping someone change a 1/

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A flat tire. If people would open their eyes they'd see kindness and the OPPORTUNITY TO BE KIND, everywhere

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Seconded, Dallas. I love 5 minutes from where this man was

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Texan cop here. My job is pretty boring 90% of the time. We're pretty well behaved. Maybe it's just the burbs.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Naw. We got it good here.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You can't trick me Texas cop, I know your state is big enough to be a whole country. You can't account for all that Texas!!

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well DFW area is decent. Dallas and FW and some other big areas have issues like most large cities but the surrounding neighborhoods are ok

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm also from Texas and no there aren't enough people like this sadly.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 5

Do you have anything to compare it to? Not being sarcastic. I've lived a few places and TX has been the best for good, caring folks

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah I'm originally from PA

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Do you feel like there are more people like this in PA? Again, not challenging, just really asking

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've lived in the city but I currently live in the rural farmlands.Sad to say it's easier to discriminate out here because it's only 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Either Mexican/white ppl or just white. Especially in the oil field towns. (From what I've seen) I can't speak for all of Tx.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Good on ya for recognizing your limits, Texas is quite varied through its ~25 million people.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Where about in the farmland?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

From what I've seen out in East texas, it's predominantly white.
