I have no idea how my dog ate a whole stocking full of chocolate and just walked away fine.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

So that's how milk chocolate is made

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

meh, I eat honey and eggs.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Couple years ago my dog got up on the table and ate my entire chocolate bday cake. Not even a stray fart. She might have an iron gut.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

At least he's getting it out. Poor doggo.

When mine ate some. Vet told me to mix a little hydrogen peroxide and water and make him drink. Induces vomiting. May help in an emergency.

9 years ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 0

Until they break away and eat it back up like a big idiot

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

That was the second hardest part. Getting him to drink the concoction was worse.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Please don't self induce vomiting at home, a lot of the time you can do a lot more harm than good. Get them to the practice ASAP

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It was X-Mas and the vet office was closed. This was the emergency line and I took him in the next day. Wouldn't do it alone unless I had to

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I recently had to do that when my Newfoundland ate an Advil. He vomited a football-sized glob of partially-digested dog food in one hurl.

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

A Newfie would be just fine eating one advil, unless they were a young puppy still.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He's 8 months old. We thought he may have eaten two, so we wanted to be cautious

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Much better than kidney failure

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Chocolate is not instantly poisonous. It's amount per weight of dog. This one had to eat a pile to get this sick.

9 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 3

Sister's Golden ate a 1lb box and projectile shat like this for 2 hours..

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Milk chocolate isn't. The LD50 for milk chocolate is about 1oz per Lb (60gm/kg). Watch out for dark chocolate though.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Agreed.i give my poodle a couple of m&m's here or there with no issue. He loves them

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Xylitol is the problem, it's an artificial sweetener that a dog's liver has trouble breaking down so it builds up and becomes toxic.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 5

the acute risk to dogs (and cats) from chocolate is theobromine. Dark chocolate, even unsweetened is most dangerous as it's less diluted.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

This is the first time I've heard of theobromine but you're right, both of these are toxic to dogs and cats.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah I used to be terrified if my dog found an M&M and ate it she'd die - then she ate a full sized Toblerone (foil and all) and was fine

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

This has been reposted to death since popped up year before last. Doggo ate a box of chocolate liquers. Poor sick doggo ):

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Basically this. Chocolate is as toxic to people as it is to dogs.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 19

That's not true. Dogs, as well as cats, frequently die from chocolate.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yes, they do. People would as well if they ate the same proportions.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Looked it up between sets and you are correct. 7% body weight to kill humans, 5% for dogs. Close enough.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is likely vinegar induced vomiting. If the dog had digested that much chocolate it would be dead.

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 2

You can also give dogs a small amount of hydrogen peroxide that really induces vomiting and very quickly I might add

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

This is at an animal hospital, so likely apomorphine induced. :)

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I like how it looks at the toy right after it throws it up. "Oh hey, can I eat that?"

9 years ago | Likes 127 Dislikes 0

I've had to induce my puppy to vomit before(chewing gum)--they spring back unexpectedly fast once they get it out!

9 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Good! Many chewing gums contain xylitol which is very toxic to dogs.

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I... expected something else to happen

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My dog did exactly this. With a steak. He threw up on my brother. It was glorious

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Tadah! And now for my next trick I make them disappear again

To clarify, it's a way of using certain kinds of magic from dragons. Your character doesn't go around yelling abuse at people for fun.
