I recently found out about sodium citrate. You can use it to make nearly any cheese drizzly and gooey. Perfect for nachos.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I scrolled down to post the words "sodium citrate". It's amazing. SODIUM CITRATE

I have a weakness for soft cheese that goes well on crackers, because I'm a cracker and just want to spread soft cheese all over myself.

11 years ago | Likes 67 Dislikes 1

Sheeit cracker!

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Cracker + goat cheese + raspberry jam = heaven

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Niiiiice

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I can validate this as a fellow cracker.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

This is a lot of cheese. I'm probably going to sneeze. I'm allergic to dairy- makes my throat feel hairy, and leads me to needing to wheeze.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Oh my gouda, I have the sudden urge to eat all the cheese, and I have none. Sad face.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I totally loved the gouda and coconut cheese I tried, so I bet I will like this. Are you supposed to also eat the rind?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don't, but I think some people do. I just cut it off, making sure not to waste any brie. :-)

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How can the wine list not include the ultimate pairing of Port and Stilton?!

11 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

oooooohhhh. Lemon zest Stilton. Hadn't thought of it in years.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The wine list only seemed to approve of really shit cheese. Maybe it makes you appreciate the wine more

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm curious what classifies as a "really shit cheese"

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm mainly referring to the blended cheeses they talk about, they're generally pretty awful tasting

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have cranberry Stilton, which I have a rabid affection for.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Disregard; Eat spray cheese directly from can.

11 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 4

I don't even wanna know what spray cheese is...

Newly lactose intolerant and cheese is my favourite food. Damn you op *goes to eat gluten, lactose, soy, flavour free "cheese"*

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

You can buy lactase pills that will digest the lactose for you.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

they only work to a certain degree

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As a lacto-and-gluten-intolerant person...

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

A lot of aged cheese is naturally lactose free. The microbes digest the lactose to lactic acid during fermentation.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Boar's Head makes an aged cheddar that is naturally lactose-free. A lot of hard cheeses like parm are lactose-free or very close.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Parm actually really upsets me. Can't have anything with it. :(

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

oh noooooo :( well, hopefully you have found something not-awful :(

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Presidents choice makes a lactose free mozza that tastes just about the same and melts normally so I can sometimes have that.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The best places serve honeycomb that you cut oh man now i have a boner brb

11 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

A cheese market here in Cleveland also sells honeycomb in jars for use with the cheese. The comb is a bit too waxy for me, though.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Gouda point. The best stuff is soaked with honey and not too waxy although I get where youre coming from.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Question: Wjy are you guys calling Queso fresco Queso fresco instead of fresh cheese?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Because there are other types of fresh cheese (cheddar curds and mozzerella) that are readily availible that are rather different.

Lactard here. Those cheese boards are all I want in my life. I'ma move to a cabin in the woods with lots of cheese and nobody to smell me.

11 years ago | Likes 753 Dislikes 3

...except you

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Most aged soft cheese doesn't contain much lactose. Stick to things thats are aged. Btw, hard cheese dont contain lactos at all.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I work at a cheese shop and if you're lactose intolerant, sheep and goat cheeses won't give you problems like cow's milk. LI problems 1/2

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Try a probiotic, an enzyme supplement, and/or a good colon cleanse, it has helped some friends before

11 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 0

Not sure if it works for everyone, but there are pills that allow you to eat lactose.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Allergic to penicillin myself. Bunk up with asthma meds and I am game :D

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Had to login to upvote Lactard. +1

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Same. The day I discovered lactose free ice cream was a very good day

11 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I'm totally fine eating dairy/lactose. I still buy coconut milk ice cream because that stuff is delicious.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Goat cheese is easier to digest (it is naturally homogenized). Also, hard cheeses (less moisture) are easier on the stomach.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

As a non-lactard, I had to google why you would smell.

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

I'm dairy intolerant. Since I discovered it the thing I've wanted most in the world is cheese, just cause I can't have it.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'm with you. Was just fine eating dairy till about 2 years ago, life hasn't been as fun since :(

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Same here, however, since it's a fairly new problem for me, I'm not ready to give up cheese yet and just deal with the consequences.

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

hard cheese you could eat, it doesn't contain lactose. And soft cheese? Stick to well aged and they're lactos free as well.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

As a lactard, I'm not as worried about the aroma as much as the gut churning osmotic pressure and its results two days after dairy...

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

The unbuttoning of the jeans... The embarrassment of the gut-soundtrack... Then the stank.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is the worst. I usually avoid cow's milk cheese, and stick with goat milk cheese. It's been pretty successful so far.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

+1 for "lactard". I'm stealing that to use from now on...

11 years ago | Likes 70 Dislikes 1

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Much is lactose intolerant, you should try aged cow cheese like straight sharp cheddar and Parmesan and also sheep and goat cheeses. 1/2

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Husband is LI. You can also get soy based cheeses american substitutes. You just need to experiemnt

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Most of my family is lactard (I lucked out) and we would all just have a night of icecream/cheese/whatever and wars would be1/2

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

+1 for masterful wording

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There are lactase supplements that may help. Also, more aged cheeses (hard or sharper) have less lactose.

11 years ago | Likes 122 Dislikes 0

The pills only go so far for me. I do have better luck with the hard cheese, & most Kraft is so processed they print "0g of lactose" on it.

11 years ago | Likes 64 Dislikes 0

Try yogurt cheese from Trader Joe's (if you have one close by) it's delicious and lactose free!

11 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

My hubby can't use the pills either. There are also soy cream cheeses and sour creams that we use

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The pills don't really work for me, so I just indulge while a bathroom is close.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's processed cheese product. Not even cheese by definition.

11 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 2

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0
