Made of stuff that will slowly rust over time and move at the speed of the bottleneck of cars around you.

One of, if not the most historic race cars in history.

The Mk2 is mental, but I wish it looked a little more like this.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

That is a GT40 Mk2…. Split tail lights and raised air scoops. The Mk1 was the inspiration for the newer version surrounding this car.

One of the greatest British cars ever.

Kiwi. Bruce McClaren was a Kiwi as was Denny Hulme.

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

And neither designed the car…

Really progressive for early 1960s.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What happened to the other 15 of them?

4 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

One was at Sawgrass Ford in S FL many years ago, probably on a tour of the Ford Dealerships

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It might’ve been this one. The museum is in Florida as well.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No idea. I talked to the workers there a bunch about the GTs and Cobras. One of them said the owner has turned down $10M offers for this one

4 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Is this in Florida? Pretty sure I met the guy who owns all these cars. He has hundreds in that warehouse

Yep! 300-ish on display and another 100 in his garage.

I get that this car is so rare but can't you reproduce it? Is that not possible? I know it feasible for most ppl but 10mill+ seems lot more

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Same thing with art. Yes, I can print a copy of the Mona Lisa off my printer, but that doesn't mean anyone wants to buy that copy.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not saying its gonna be worth 10mill but you can drive it unlike the Mona Lisa. Even with car collecting there is practicality, no?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No. At 30+% of the collection were track only cars that would no longer meet track safety requirements for you to be allowed to drive. 1/2

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And beyond that, track only cars typically can't be driven on the streets. Only four cars in the entire collection were even registered.

How much of the front end hangs past the front wheel? Built like a city bus this vehicle.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Maybe 2 feet (60cm) at the center.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh okay not too bad, just looks like way more.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

163” length, 95” wheelbase, so 34” from center of wheel to tip of nose assuming the wheels are perfectly centered on the chassis.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But yeah, it does seem like an exaggerated proportion

I never did get around to watching Speed Racer. Gonna watch it next.

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

If you watched it as a kid, it’s good for nostalgia’s sake. Otherwise it…doesn’t really hold up.

watch it high, it's fabulous

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It is gloriously cartoony in a way that pays proper homage to the original show.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I watched it when I was relatively young I think 7 or 8 years old. Don’t remember much, other than the non stop epilepsy inducing lights

This movie got so much hate, and the talky scenes got really dull fast, but I adored those race scenes. I STILL re-watch those regularly!
