To all you comfortable ass fucks making fun of this guy for his apparent ignorance, fuck you. They’re not stupid, they’re poor. He didn’t choose this life assholes, he’s just playing the hand he was dealt. I’d like to see you do have as well were you born into his circumstances.

God damn, the shit that goes on in other countries.

Happy unbirthday to that dude

1 week ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Well, that's neat as hell, but that ain't healthy.

1 week ago | Likes 62 Dislikes 0

They shouldn’t make 12 year olds do this kind of work

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Without safety measures or a career change, I'm afraid this man will suffer an early and uncomfortable death, and before that he will go quite mad.

1 week ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Imagine what he could do if he had resources

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Honestly isn't that shit toxic as all get out? I've seen Company PSA's about not throwing those sort of bulbs in the regular trash. Am I missing something here or does this guy have a death wish?

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hard pass.

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Love the old school blow torch

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That man will not have a long career at that, sadly.

OSHA regulations

1 week ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

They pair nicely with this safety squints. Great for breaking pressurized glass.

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How many times did he cut the shit out of his fingers while doing that?

1 week ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Yes

1 week ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Oh good, he's wearing his Safety Sandals, I was about to point out the numerous hazards.

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Anybody else absolutely sick of these videos showcasing Indians making a living by doing the exact opposite of what the OSHA handbooks recommends and, as a result have a life expectancy of "How the fuck were you not dead five years ago?"

1 week ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Just so you know, the tubes with green caps are low mercury ( less than 5 mg) all the others are standard which means at least 8 mg, more likely to be 12 mg.

1 week ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

He's not wearing a respirator. Fluorescent bulbs contain mercury vapor. Even though the amount is small if inhaled repeatedly it will damage your kidneys & nervous system.

1 week ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Mad-as-a-tuber!

1 week ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

mmmmm mercury.

My god I can't believe someone else knows this.

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Mad as a hatter.

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We had to wear respiratory att work when a company was replacing all our tubes for led, just incase.

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fluorescent tubes contain a small amount of mercury, a potent neurotoxin. While not instantly fatal, broken tubes release vapor that is harmful if inhaled and can damage the nervous system, brain, kidneys, and lungs, particularly in children and pregnant women. They are considered hazardous waste, requiring careful disposal

1 week ago | Likes 92 Dislikes 0

He was wearing his safety sandals so he'll probably be ok.

1 week ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Use to play around lotta bulk waste. Broke a lot of these tubes for fun. Is this why I'm depressed, no executive functions, highly vigilant and completely in a forever fight and flight mode?

1 week ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

Nah, it's the other way around. Those things explain why you were playing in waste.

1 week ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

we had to play outside. And there waste all around.

Meanwhile incandescent bulbs can be made out of some of the most abundant and inert materials in the entire universe. Also, Jevons' paradox.

1 week ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

In economics, the Jevons paradox, or Jevons effect, is said to occur when technological improvements that increase the efficiency of a resource's use lead to a rise, rather than a fall, in total consumption of that resource.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jevons_paradox

I got to learn a new thing today, thanks!

And LEDs don't escape it. Switching all your lights to LEDs doesn't mean they turn down the production at a coal power plant, & it doesn't mean they close a plant. Since LEDs can operate more cheaply for the owner, there're areas in the world using LEDs now that used nothing before, actually increasing energy use. LEDs save people money over incandescent, but they don't really improve the environment. They change nothing for coal power plants, and they're more toxic than incandescents can be.

Most people would be, at this point.

1 week ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I am confused. I have blown glass for chemistry. Glass does not cool down fast. I do not understand how he is able to touch pieces that were molten seconds earlier.

1 week ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Okay, so I'm not crazy. I'm not great at spotting AI, and I've never worked with glass at all, but the nearness to the flame that he holds it barehanded, and the speed with which he is grabbing parts that were just in the flame is making me doubt the veracity of this video.

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

Yeah but chemistry glass is thick and heavy, the glass in fluorescent tubes is paper thin which is why hes able to work it with that little torch, doesnt have a lot of specific heat capacity. Like im sure besides mad hatters disease his fingers are pretty calloused, but its just not enough mass to burn skin well. Like grabbing aluminum foil out of the oven vs an actual pan.

1 week ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Plenty of chefs in professional kitchens have burned off the nerve endings in their fingertips after working long enough, prob similar here.

1 week ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Can confirm. Those in my profession, too.

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No consideration to the mercury vapors in those things.

1 week ago | Likes 352 Dislikes 1

where in the backwoods america is this

1 week ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 14

Like, did you not see him wipe it out with a rag?

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

One word: safety sandals

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He wasn't living past 60 either way

1 week ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Not to mention the phosphorus dust

1 week ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 1

Phosphor not phosphorus, if it was phosphorous it'd be burning on contact with the air.

1 week ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

And then he puts his mouth on it…

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"Ahh, mercury: Sweetest of the transition metals!"

1 week ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

1 week ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No man, he washed it out almost completely. :)

1 week ago | Likes 71 Dislikes 0

Not to worry, his lungs will filter out the mercury vapor from the air so it doesn't contaminate the environment.

1 week ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I bet he glows under power lines.

1 week ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yeah those are considered hazard special waste around here.

1 week ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

That’s why they ship them overseas to be “disposed of properly”

1 week ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Does this look like a place with labor rights

1 week ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

Don't worry the chemicals in the unnamed red dye cancel it out.

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There’s also the safety sandals while working with glass…yeah…no.

1 week ago | Likes 101 Dislikes 2

And the safety squints

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is one of those situations without a follow-up video on how his mentor and competitors have already died and he's living out his days in some hospital while his family disposes of an unbelieveable amount of contaminated debris

1 week ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

It’s sandalous

1 week ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Would you please stop? I can't standal these puns

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Int the flip community it was indeed a flop.

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How do you know it has Mercury in it? What was it?

1 week ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Have we really reached a point where people don't recognize fluorescent tube lights? Not making fun, just curious. They're fairly common

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Standard Fluorescent tube has about 3-5 mg of mercury vapor in it. (used to be upto 50mg) Which is a rather potent neurotoxin. Especially dangerous to kids.

1 week ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

3-5 mg is the green "eco" capped ones. The standard ones are all higher than that.

1 week ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Every time it rains it will drain off right into their water source.

1 week ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 1

It's vaporized mercury so he is breathing it in and don't know it
