EDIT: Fixed typo

You attempt to push the orc off the bridge...

Thanks for all the upvotes guys, made my day.

My first ever favourite

I'm trying to find a group in my hometown so i can learn this game, but so far ive rolled a 20 for loneliness, and a 19 to confirm the crit.

I almost always prefer rolling ones instead - it's just so damned amusing watching the DM fumble for something bad enough to match a one.

11 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 2

My 2nd Ed DM had a 20 or 1 require a second d6 dice roll, only on a 6 or second 1 was it bat shit insane.

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

These are the things that want to make me get into D&D.

11 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

Do it. You won't regret it. Good timing too, 5e groups are just starting up all over, be good to get in while you can.

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

D&D is the only game I've played where every dice roll has a 1/10 chance of generating a great story to tell people later.

11 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

You attempt to seduce the warlord but end up farting in his face instead. He liked it and now you're his bitch.

I'm a nerd, and I support these messages.

11 years ago | Likes 244 Dislikes 4

Yeah, D&D nerds don't get enough love with all the comic book/Star Wars nerd love going around. I could read these all damn day.

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

finally, a message I can get behind

11 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I checked a corner to see if anyone was coming to stop an 'interrogation.' Perception = 1. Miss 25 orc platoon who walks past me.

11 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

YOU NO SEE KROD!

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I literally failed every perception check the first 5 sessions so I just stopped making them eventually. Gnome riding my shoulders did them

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

You managed to convince the dragon that you are his mother. Roll me intimidation check with +10 bonus.

11 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Mothers get a +20 to intimidating their children.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I am happy to say that they actually do not.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I once tried to seduce a half orc, rolled a 20, and he came so hard, that he died.

11 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

I-I'm really ok with this. xD

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Is there a DND fuck up subreddit?

11 years ago | Likes 62 Dislikes 0

did you ever get an answer?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There needs to be.

11 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

"You fall from the roof, roll to evade" "You sure?" "Yes" - 20 - "You dodge the ground"... Allofmywut.jpg

11 years ago | Likes 70 Dislikes 1

You pussy. I BLOCK the ground.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

And the rest of the adventure is the DM's fruitless attempts at getting the player to remember the ground is where he is supposed to be.

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Well, remember, flying is just throwing yourself at the ground and missing.

11 years ago | Likes 51 Dislikes 0

Then a natural 1 should also suffice.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Only if you were attempting to hit.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Any rpg'er worth their weigh in platinum could work with this... {wiggles eyebrows}

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'd play D&D again if there was a local group that had a DM who enjoyed that roll. been a while.

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I drive about an hour to roll with the guys every week. we used to all play in college and slowly picked up more people along the way

11 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 5

You're not getting top comment, but I'll help you along your way.

And I will hinder you both. Sorry, but someones gotta be the antagonist ;(

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

My gods, that poor Orc.

11 years ago | Likes 53 Dislikes 0

That Orc be all "I'm being TRIGGERED!"

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Every adventure after that, the player has to explain the orc following him, constantly exclaiming, "Senpai, notice me!"

11 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Never thought I'd feel bad for an uncomfortable orc.

11 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

The last one fucking killed me.

11 years ago | Likes 1151 Dislikes 6

It didn't kill him

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Check out the starter kit thats $13, find a few friends that are interested and learn it together.5e makes learning/playing easier than ever

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I never understood how the hell D&D works but it seems really cool

11 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Check out the starter kit on amazon for $13. Get 3-5 friends and have an awesome weekend!

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Remember when you were a kid and played pretend? It's like that but instead of dissolving into did not / did too arguments, you roll dice.

11 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

It's like improvising stories with some defined rules. Think of improvisational theatre.

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Yeah, but with no pesky audience to please. ;)

That was classic.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

*standing applause* Elegant.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Holy crap I'm crying.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I once tazed a friend's character in D20 Modern and rolled triple twenties for the instant kill. He was not as amused.

11 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 0

Dm play permadeath?

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

is there another way?

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

my god.. the first real laugh all day. thank you so much haha1

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Had a guy dual wielding once. Roll for each hand. 1 and 20. Hilarity ensued as he dismembers his hand, but it flew into the heart of the orc

11 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

lmao, thanks for that.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Almost as bad as the guy that tried to stab a vampire with a makeshift wooden stake and landed it in his eye. There's gold in D&D mishaps.

The one I read of that was him throwing it at a mind flayer and natural 20 the entire thing, killing the mind flayer.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I literally didn't understand any of this :\

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Ive never even played d&d and this is hilarious

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Awesome. I once had a player we called Demon Dice who did crazy stuff with Nat 20s. He once ripped a Mindflayer's tentacles off.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

What kind of a sadistic DM would let you stab yourself in the dick?

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Oh. My. Lord. I don't care how made up that POSSIBLY is, that is glorious.

11 years ago | Likes 500 Dislikes 2

Uh, that is absolutely, definitely, positively, completely, entirely, indubitably made up. That's how it works, see?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Probably happened. I've played some pretty hilarious games.

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

After the Gazebo, I doubt no one.

11 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Look up the Head of Vecna

11 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Oh man, that was a fantastic read.

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

fun read. Any idea who the DM was?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You know how I know this happened? Because you always critical hit when your teammates are in the line of fire.

11 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

After the crazy shit I've seen/had happen in my games, I generally believe all DNS stories are true

11 years ago | Likes 123 Dislikes 0

Highlight of my DND career was grappling a support beam and tearing down an entire tavern.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Domain Name Server stories... my favorite! :D

Dnd even

11 years ago | Likes 55 Dislikes 0

Living up to your name there, I see.

11 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What did you roll for ribs?

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

1. I was aiming for Wisconsin.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In all fairness, it is hard to hit Wisconsin. They do have a +6 to dexterity. The cheese lubricates them well.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Read the three of them as the Top Gear guys. DM is Jeremy, "me" is Richard, and Psion is James.

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I can't unthink this. Its brilliant.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is why I regret never having played any tabletop RPG. This is hilarious!

11 years ago | Likes 150 Dislikes 0

I highly recommend Call of Cthulhu. It is fantastic. You need a good DM though

R20 is a good place to play a game, but not to find one, it seems a lot of people are a bit flakey

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Find a group.I did 3 weeks ago and found one not far from me.Every Wed night is a fuckin blast. Can't believe I wasn't doing this before now

11 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

How do you go about finding a group?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's what I'm wondering.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As soon as they make dnd for the socially awkward

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm not very good around people I don't know, and I'd be doulby self-concious of standing in the way of the game because I never played.(1)

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

But it sounds fun enough that I might just get over myself and just fucking do it.(2/2)

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I've jumped in head first doing a Mutants&Masterminds game (D&D but superhero/comic book styled/realm). Fucking blast!

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah trust me neither am I. I don't even like ordering stuff over the phone. But around people who share your interests its much easier (1)

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

And the new edition of d&d is very very easy to pick up even if you never played a rpg before. I would definitely say atleast try it out(2)

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Thanks, I think I will. Can't harm to meet some new people, can it?

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Never too late.

11 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 0

I just saw Roll20.net in some other comment here, I'm gonna use it as an occasion to try and convince my friends once more.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Koo.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If they decline you don't mind playing with random strangers who also don't know what they're doing, hmu. Always wanted to play

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I desperately want to try it, but how do you as a 20-something with no friends that would be even remotely interested?

11 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 2

Thanks for all the suggestions! Clearly getting into this wouldn't be as hard as I make it out to be

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Search for groups in your area. For example I found my group just google > atlanta d&d groups

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

There are plenty of places to find online campaigns for new players via programs like roll20

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Craigslist? Ask your friends if they have friends that play? Live near a college campus with an announcement board? Game shop board?

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Maybe Social Savannah? You a member there?

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

If you're interested in playing online, app.roll20.net/lfg is a groupfinding tool with a filter for newb-friendly games, all on a great site

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wow, thanks. I might look into that.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Is there a local game/comic store? Always a great start.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nonlethal damage causing instaslay? Please...

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Isn't 3 consecutive 20s an instant kill?

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It's a variant rule (at least in 3.5ed). Using some common sense here, we never allowed obvious nonlethal damage to cause instakills.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Depends on the group who's playing. Do you want to play super strict and try to have fun or do you let some stuff slide when you're lucky?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Since players are there to have fun, I'll always try to make it fun.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have a friend who was playing a gnoll bard, and rolled the 3rd 20 on her vicious mockery attack,(1/2)

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Thereby mocking an elder god to death. (2/2)

11 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Must've been a hell of a campaign if you were fighting an elder god.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It's a houserule. Fairly common one, but not part of RAW.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It's a house rule, but That's how I've always played it.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Acceptable given the chances are 1 in 20^3 or 0.0125%

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

So you're saying there's a chance...

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Never tell me the odds

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Fun fact: "critical fumble" doesn't exist, natural 1 is just a failure to do it, NOT DOES THE EXACT OPPOSITE! As in heal nat-1 becomes stab.

11 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

You, Sir, are a Rules Lawyer, and any DM worth his dice does not allow your kind to live.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

You, Sir, are an idiot. If you never learned to play games by the rules and work within them then you'll forever live in frustration.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

right, but many DMs like to invoke rule zero to make things hilarious

11 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Well too often that's just used by lazy GM's to troll the table. I won't do it, it's fun for me, not for them.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Agreed - I only run fumbles for the PC's if it helps the narrative, but do it more regularly for enemy NPCs since it's fun for the players

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fun Fact: House Rules do exist, so Crit Fumbles exist if we say they exist, much like the worlds and settings these games are played in..ass

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Except the same GM cannot say "no homebrew, strictly by the rules!" without being a hypocrite.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

You sound like a Rules Lawyer...taking the Meta a bit too seriously, are we?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

You sound like a killjoy. D&D is all about researching and mastering the rules that is half the fun, without the rules it's Improv-Theatre.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I'm the Killjoy? You're the one Lawyering this photo with your 'fun fact'. You game your way and leave others to how they game.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Not only that, there's no such thing as natural 20/1 on a skill check. You can still succeed with a roll of 1 and fail with a roll of 20.

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 3

right, but many DMs like to invoke rule zero to make things hilarious

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Yup. Still GMs who don't-give-a-shit don't do their homework only think of how to screw party on inevitable 1-rolls.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That would mean that given enough attempts, you could easily jump through the stratosphere. You'll auto-succeed eventually.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Auto-succeed doesn't make the skill take any less time, they jump and are back down to earth. And still MUST push off something.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

well, if you don't roll a 1 first.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Seriously, what do you mean, because the rules are explicit you need something to jump off, not mid air.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

You're the guy who's not really any fun to play with in groups, are you?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

I'll take that downvote as a yes.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Remember that Borderlands 2 DLC where you try to pick up the gun and roll a 1 every time?

11 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

got to love tiny tina!!!

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And on the third critical failure the gun actually turns into a flying monster you have to kill.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

And eventually you get the gun, but every time you fire it, you have a chance at dropping it again.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I have never played D&D, but I want to learn.

11 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

I recommend something like Castles and Crusades instead. Very simple system, plays like old school D&D.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I love C&C

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

5th Edition just came out. It's a huge grouping all the best parts of 2nd, 3rd, and even 4th edition. If you want to learn to play, try 5th.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Find a local hobby store. They usually have regular events. It is a LOT of work to learn on your own vs playing with people.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

http://www.reddit.com/r/dnd best place to start.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Thanks!

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Check out the newest edition, it's the arguably the best and easiest to learn. A starter kit is only $13 and includes enough to start.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I recommend learning 3.5

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

5e is much easier to learn and has the same feel of 3.5

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Or 5.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I haven't played 5 yet. My DM and party members aren't willing to try it just yet.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Amen to that. Although, I'm starting to think 5e might be worth its salt as well.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I haven't played 5 yet. I watched some people play it at Gen Con, but I didn't really get a good grasp of its dynamics.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I know 4 dumbed a lot down but that's where i learned, I heard five should be the best parts of 3 through 4.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I learned with 4, too. But I love 3.5 so much more.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'd say streamlined instead of "dumbed down".

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I killed a goblin king with a nat 20 but broke my fist punching the floor when i whiffed on one of his minions.

11 years ago | Likes 137 Dislikes 0

Beautiful

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I kicked open a door on a nat 20 to break into a house and I killed the child who was attempting to open the door.

11 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

I'm silently crying laughing at work. Thanks for that :')

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

My buddy was a fighter and wanted to bust down a changing screen to show off and instead he triggered a trap and got an axe in his chest.

11 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

Turned a white dragon in to a frog, stole his hord, then bluffed him in to chasing a mini boss after he made his savings roll.

11 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

DM:*Rolls insight check* Oh god.. my dragons an idiot..

11 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

lmao!

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I wiffed against a royal gaurd recruit and launched my axe across the room. It beheaded the captain of the guards.

11 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

Cpt rolled no save?

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I rolled 1, 1, nat 20. I loved my axe and the dm was tired of me destroying everything with it so he often tried to make me lose it

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Ah, gotta love the DM's Bane weapons.

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I couldn't pick locks but I could break doors and chests open.

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

still the best D&D story I've ever heard

11 years ago | Likes 971 Dislikes 2

Me = Warforged. Adopted a pet bugbear. My group was fighting a dragon, and through a series of lucky rolls, I was able to lasso 1/?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This was entertaining.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Furries do no go into Warhammer 40k as Imperials. Anything mutant or alien gets burned. That's how the Imperium works. Imperium is not nice.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

DM should have known that. Not knowing the Imperium is not a shining beacon of acceptance should disqualify you from Dark Heresy.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Absolutely. If I want to play a talking animal, and I often do, I wait 'till we're playing Rogue Trader and roll a kroot.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Haha, yeah, hadn't thought about it but playing a Kroot mercenary in Rogue Trader would be right up a furry's alley, AND fit the game.
