...They do have Buckaroo Banzaii and Fandango.... Two of the absolute best.

I am very wary of Tubi & Pluto TV, given they're owned by Fox & Paramount, respectively.

8 hours ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I dropped Netflix as soon as they wanted me to pay for a service and STILL get ads. Nah mate.

8 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Tubi has some good shit. Netflix has nothing I would ever want to watch.

8 hours ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

10 hours ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

That's like a 1000% increase. That's outrageous...

10 hours ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

What the fuck? You gotta pay to watch ads? This fucking ship has sailed to a bay.

8 hours ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 0

I cancelled Netflix way back when they started running ads. Don't miss it.

5 hours ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Might go back to Private VPN and just torrent everything

Been exclusively on the high seas for going on twenty years. Tis the life for me.

Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats.

5 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

A new golden age for pirates!

5 hours ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I don't use any paid streaming services, so I get a lot of mileage out of Tubi. And they now have several classic Cartoon Network shows including Teen Titans and Justice League.

10 hours ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 2

And Courage!

8 hours ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

It's absolutely disgusting. Why do people accept paying for ads? I miss having Netflix, but you gotta take a stand sometime. And my red line was like 4 years ago...

7 hours ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Convenience. Being averse to change. Those would be my guesses for why people accept it. As I said elsewhere here I just cut out Netflix years ago myself and haven't really bothered with TV/movies much since because for me it's just hassle to find an alternative that isn't shitty in some way or other too.

6 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My fiber jumped from 40 to 80 and when I called, they immediately reoffered the promo rate. I asked if they could lock it in for two or three years, abd they said no, but to say I was thinking about switching again next February. Ugh. Like great — I will but they're making millions on the bet people will forget or not call. I hate this.

3 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Remember when it was like $15 a month?

8 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I remember when it was $7 no ads... I remember when Hulu was free...

7 hours ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Raising my price from torrents to PLEX

4 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

wtf is premium?!

2 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They lock full HD behind premium.

2 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh no, my data cap!

2 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And this is why I have an unlocked android box.

8 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Guys, you're *really* not going to like who owns Tubi...

8 hours ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Oh.

5 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm aware. I'm not paying money to it, so I don't give a fuck which old bastard owns it.

2 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I also don’t like who owns Pluto, but since they rely on advertising, we can always make it known whom
we disagree with and boycott them.

7 hours ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I've started buying blurays again recently, if they're going to make me pay hundreds of dollars a year then I mind as well just pay $100 to get the entire series for my favorite show... and own it for life.

9 hours ago | Likes 87 Dislikes 0

But then I have to get up to put discs in. And I'm sure all the stream original shows aren't getting physical releases.

5 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Plus audio commentaries. I used to love watching tracks with the director, writer, and actors talking about production.

8 hours ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

at this point same.

9 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I bought a blueray of Six Feet Under and the disks deteriorated after four years.

8 hours ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That's a shame. I've really wanted to watch it again sometime soon because it's so expensive on Amazon. Have you bought on dvd or anything else?

7 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Or sell it on eBay after watching it 3 times. You might even be able to buy it there second-hand in the first place.

8 hours ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I cancelled my Netflix and Disney+ subscriptions in January 2025. I haven't regretted it a single day.

4 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

3 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh I haven't paid for netflix in ages.

3 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I left Netflix years ago when they started cracking down on VPNs because I wasn't gonna pay the same price as someone in the US for a far worse selection of movies and shows. And every year it feels like Netflix proves that decision ever more correct with new bullshit.

8 hours ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Same here, the Aussie selection is a tiny fraction of the US one and they want to charge us the same or even more? Fuck that.

8 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The problem with the greed model. It's never sustainable for long.

8 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Krooztv

Fuck the services that screw the consumer

9 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Netflix out here trying to cover their shit WWE deal.

5 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dude they just raised prices last year wtf. Is this to recover their losses from the WB deal? They add a whole bunch of useless BS, podcasts and livestream crap, that's not worth two price hikes. Greedy fucking assholes.

5 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wtf is the difference between Ad tier and Standard??? More and less ads? What a shitty business

10 hours ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Full HD

10 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

both standard with ads and standard without ads are full HD.

8 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Standard is what you used to get before they jammed ads in there. Now give more money to get the same thing or still pay more, just as not much more, for an even shittier version

8 hours ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Standard is ad free, premium just adds 4k video and some stuff that loosens up restrictions on account sharing

10 hours ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Up next. Premium ads.

8 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yep. So effectively, the minimum price for Netflix is now $20 a month.

7 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

$26.99*

9 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Better stuff to watch on Tubi and the loading screen slaps.

5 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Tubi has drastically increased their commercials, though. A 1.5 hr movie takes like 2-2.5 hrs to get through now. Commercials every 5 mins it feels like. And their movie selection is all direct to video crap now.

7 hours ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Tubi is honestly pretty great… I use it a lot.

10 hours ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 3

I’m tubby, and also very cheap if anyone is interested?

6 hours ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

3 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Same! I thoughtlessly dismissed it for years, but then when searching for a movie I wanted to see, found Tubi was the only one hosting it, and from that day my eyes were opened it has an impressive library of movies and shows. Was even more impressed by its massive catalog of LGBTQ+ movies, which as a lesbian something I'm oft starved for, especially ones that aren't some pretentious period piece that has them die or nonsensically break up cuz society as if gay couples didn't exist in history.

7 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Just be careful not to cross the stream(ing service)s. (Didn’t think I’d notice your username, did’ja?)

7 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

6 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They're short on good content IMO, it's mostly full of the stuff that I'd have to watch on cable channel TV movies. It's still free, but not better than Netflix or Amazon content that I'm already watching free overall and ad free via pirating.

7 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

“Good” is subjective, but I can see why you’d feel that way. Everybody has their preferences. I found a lot of things I like, which are not available on the other streaming services I have.

7 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

When trying to find something to watch, it's a question of Tubi or not Tubi.

9 hours ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

That joke goes through my head every time I open the app…

9 hours ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

At this point kinda the best of the streaming services.

9 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Tuuuuuuuuubbbbbbbbbiii...Tubi. +1...I use it in the morning for all the news channels I get, especially with a vpn on. Some evenings I chill out with a movie or two...

7 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Owned by Fox though. How's it work with ad blockers?

10 hours ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Great on computer, but on streaming the ads aren't as bad as other places

10 hours ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

Do they play in the middle of movies or episodes?

6 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes, but not in the middle of random scenes or convesrations (they utilize all the old ad break spots)

2 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I just let the adds play. They’re really not so bad…

9 hours ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 12

Thanks. Youtube ads are atrocious - useless, scammy, in weird spots. Back in the day when we had Hulu they would play the same ad repeatedly during a show, sometimes twice in an ad break. That's the kind of shit that's intolerable for me, along with LOUD, and insulting ("your life sucks and you're a loser but if you buy our product and/or service you'll be a god amongst men!" type shit). Might have to check it out.

8 hours ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

They play a lot of gambling ads, in my experience. I don't know how/if they're targeted.

7 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don't think I've seen any gambling ads there, so they might be.

7 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I grew up dealing with commercials so it's second nature for me to just ignore them. It's wild to me that so many people have such a vehement hatred of them nowadays, when I just don't care about them enough to hate them. And I mean, advertisements do have to exist in some capacity, for customers to know that your product or service exists at all.

8 hours ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 6

I also grew up with ads. I don’t enjoy them, but as long as they’re not overbearing, I don’t care. Tubi’s good about them. YouTube is garbage… Throws in WAY too many, at WEIRD points, and I have seen “ads” that were over an hour and a half long…

8 hours ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Wow… You weren’t wrong about that vehement hate for ads. I already got 4 downvotes just for saying I don’t mind the minimal ads on tubi…

8 hours ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

It's nuts; someone literally asked you how the ads were, you say it's not bad, and get terrible feedback for your answer..

8 hours ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It’s mostly because I assume comments like yours are coming from bots or click farms.

8 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Ads that tell me about a product or service in a calm, factual manner are fine. Ads that shout at me, or tell me that I'm worthless because I don't have their product or service, or that are blatantly manipulative, fuel my ire, and it seems like most ads fall under one or more of those three categories. But I wouldn't dv someone else for relaying their subjective experience to answer the question I asked.

8 hours ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I also grew up with ads. I’m baffled by how complacent you are to them. Ad breaks are jarring and completely disrupt the viewing experience. I resent them, and I’ve always assumed the masses of Tubi-positive comments you see on posts like this are from comment farms and bots.

8 hours ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Because I've had a lifetime to get accustomed to them. And yes, they do disrupt your viewing, but that's true of literally anything that asks for your attention, including real life situations. If I got livid every time I had to pause what I'm doing, I'd probably have pretty high blood pressure. Also it's pretty rude to assume anyone who doesn't feel the same way that you do is a bot or a shill.

8 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Got plex. Made my own netflix. Dvds are selling for like 50.cents as well. Wouldn't be a bad time to own media before you cant. Plex also has lots of free stuff.

10 hours ago | Likes 211 Dislikes 2

Wait, where you getting dvds for that cheap? I might just need to start adding to my collection again.

8 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We have a few retro stores here that have buy 4 get 1 free or buy 1 get one. And huge liquidations. I used to just biy games from them but.... lately.. everytime i go in i get 5 or 10. At a time. Its so cheap... and i have stacks of old dvd drives for computers. Also good to have the original just in case the mpaa ever tries their shit on me.

6 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And makes for a very polished result should you prefer to plunder on the high seas🤷🏻

3 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've had Plex with a Lifetime Pass, and it's been great, but lately, they are pushing more and more things I don't care about. As it is, I can't even use the LG app on my TV without an internet connection. It's probably gonna get worse later down the road. I still use Plex, but mainly for music with Android Auto while I drive. I've since began using Jellyfin.

7 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I was wondering how the android auto would work with it as i was trying to replace my Spotify now with my actual collection.

7 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've been using Plex for a while. I bought the lifetime sub as I share with others. I do still have Disney and Hulu ONLY because its free with my Verizon Wireless. Unfortunately I watch Netflix alot.

7 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Recently discovered Plex. Took days to rip all my shows and movies. I enjoyed every minute of it.

4 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yea i had fun going through all my old media found so much hilarious stuff. I have cds from 1999 i burned into vcds. I remember having to split movies to make it work lol. Some great 480 quality stuff

4 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I dont have a Plex server, but I have 20+ TB of media on external hard drives.

6 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i am also a digital doomsday prepper. mp4 mkv 4lyfe

5 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

.

7 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

PLEX FTW!

6 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

4K UHDs are unfortunately going for a lot more as the critical mass has dropped as most people don't mind the low quality on low tier streaming. Which is a bit of a shame, but still, for the most part I'd rather pay and keep the physical copy stashed away forever.

6 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ripping drives are getting scarce. I have 2 - one is an firmware downgraded LG so I can rip 4K. I just use my Synology NAS's DLNA function for delivery around the house.

8 hours ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I buy old computers on marketplace for like 20 bucks and steal the drives. I dont need 4k but its nice but bluerays are more prone to cracking because the top protective layer was manufactured. 05mm thinner than dvds and cds. All burned media from 98-2005 is still in great shape. I like the offline option. Just in case we gotta go back a few decades of tech.

7 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Indeed. It's also a good way to preserve stuff you'll never see online. I have the whole run of Monty Python archived. I've yet to see any streaming service offer it.

7 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yea i like finding old stuff especially after seeing how streaming services are using ai to modify old shows and change stuff they said. Fuck that noise. Books too. Its up to us to save it before they change it.

7 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I know what some of these words mean 😊

8 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

There are guides out there if you want to learn how to rip DVDs and Blu-ray's. You'll need an internal DVD/Blu Ray drive, and they're getting expensive.

8 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Can I ask what genres/time period plex tendd to have stuff from? I mostly watch horror and action from 70s-early 00s and a lot of stuff I used to watch is becoming lost media because it was on limited physical release or never released physically at all. Tl;dr: does it have garbage

8 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Its kinda a mixed bag. I have so many movies i honestly rarely watch stuff plex has. I do like the live tv option for background noise. But i have 1500 movies and almost 400 seasons of shows. Its more or less like a tubi platform. Maybe someone else has more experience watching its lineup.

7 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I ditched Plex for Jellyfin when plex wanted to charge me for streaming to my tv in my own home.

8 hours ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I tried Jellyfin but it's SO SLOW compared to my Emby install. I want to like it but every time I try I have to spend days letting it index my 150TB and afterwards it's still just SO DAMN SLOW.

7 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I’m slowly making the same move. Plex has the ease of use (for dear mom) so I gotta polish the remote jelly fin experience a bit.

8 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Definitely interested in finding more options. Im not married to plex but yea.... its pretty easy to set up and maintain. I just got too much on the go it took almost 2 days to index my stuff on plex so idk if i wanna move to anything else atm but maybe soon.

7 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

my buddy set up a jellyfin and now i just supply him with content for his 40TB setup and i get access to it

5 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It’s too bad Plex also made it so you have to pay for remote streaming but it’s still great for home use

9 hours ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

If the account used to claim the Plex server has Premium the remote pass isn't needed for anyone using that server :P

7 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I logged them all in as me. Works great.

8 hours ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It’s a very cheap subscription. Worth it for remote streaming IMO. Especially if you have a lot of content.

8 hours ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yea 12 bucks is still cheaper than netflix. And i use it for my music too.

7 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Weird, nobody pay for me. I have a lifetime pass. Maybe that's why ?

7 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Yeah. If you have the lifetime pass (I do as well) those who streams from you don't have to pay. No idea why you got downvotes

5 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just saw that lifetime got upped to $350, damn ! I paid like $90. Maybe that's why, it's not so much a cheap alternative.

16 minutes ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If your firewall supports SSL- or IPSEC-VPN, no you don't.

8 hours ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Tricking the server to think you're within the network still?

8 hours ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Exactly.

7 hours ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Clever girl. Err or guy. Need to look into that.

7 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I had this working for a while but suddenly it stopped working. I got tired of fighting it and trying to understand how to get it working again (I'm a hobbyist, my networking understanding is quite light). I finally relented and paid way too much for lifetime plex. I couldn't bear the thought of spending the effort to switch to Jellyfin.

5 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yea but you get access to tons of live tv channels and anyone that uses my server pays 1.99 which is substantially cheaper.

9 hours ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I didn’t know about the live channels. Interesting

9 hours ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

If you paired plex and tubi you pretty much have a lifetime of shows to watch. And im sure there are other free streaming channels you could use but... i have 1500 movies and probably 380 seasons of shows just on my own personal collection. Spanning since i was a teen. Plus like 100gb of music plex can also play

9 hours ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I use Emby for that. Free version.

8 hours ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Nice always like more options.

7 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Prefer Emby's UI to Plex as well. Haven't tried Jellyfin.

7 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Both probably have smart tv apps too?

7 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Jellyfin was a bit clunky to setup so my non tech friends found it a tad difficult. I haven’t checked out emby I will later today!

7 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

yep, have my own plex server also for the last 5 years. I am not looking back to netflix/disney...etc

10 hours ago | Likes 51 Dislikes 0

I set up a Plex server but haven't really used it outside of some streaming. Do I need a GPU? My coworker mentioned I might but I'm not sure.

I've worked in IT for 10+ years and know jack shit about GPUs. Lol.

8 hours ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I initially set it up to share with some friends but none of them seem interested now. Lol.

Actually, this reminds me that I need to stop the port forwarding on my router. Thank you!

6 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If just streaming locally for yourself no no GPU required. If sharing and streaming to others it'll help

8 hours ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Yea my 3070 barely even uses 3% when 3 ppl are on my server. Cpu doesn't even get used much tbh. Wonder how crappy you can go. Im sure even an i5 2500k could easily handle plex without a sweat. Maybe my p4 needs a challenge.

8 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

nah man, you can run your plex server on a potato. Im far from being an IT guy and I made my server just fine with just youtube tutorials. Currently its running on my 3rd PC which is mostly like 10+ yrs old parts (I think the gpu on it is a 770 4gb, which was pretty good but back in like 2015)

8 hours ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

You might want something just for better transcoding. Plex lets you down scale resolution for better bandwidth but i play games on the same computer and i never notice the load with 3 ppl on it. My computer isnt top of the line. But i do have a decent cpu.

8 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The PC itself is just a SFF device that the help desk was going to recycle so I took it, reinstalled Windows, and then installed Plex. It's not exactly a high end device.

8 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If its just you using it. It probably has enough power. Any idea on the cpu? I have a 5700x3d and it uses.... like. 1% of the cpu usually. And 3% of my rtx 3070 its not super intensive as a program.

8 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ive started buying dvds and bluerays and blank media. Old dvd burners. Pre windows 10 tech. All old games and consoles. Im ready for when the internet is completely unusable.

9 hours ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

I have Plex. What's this about a server?

9 hours ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

You can set up your own media server with plex. Its free for home use( intranet) but to access your server outside its a small fee now. I have movies tv shows and my music on my server. As well plex has free shows but if you pay you get access to live tv channels as well.

8 hours ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

So with plex you can create your own media library with your own PC/server. Then you can stream your own videos just like netflix.

To do it locally ( Your own tv with your server on the same network for example) is free.

If you want to access your library from outside networks you have a small fee (either one-time or monthly) I never paid for it though

I have a PC dedicated for the library just bc I dont want my main PC being open 24/7 but you dont need a dedicated server really

8 hours ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Also something thats cool is other people can access your server for like 2$/month. It was free before but for 2$ I think its still pretty fair

8 hours ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

So you have to upload DVDs or is it like digital copies from Amazon etc? I have a pretty weird and robust dvd collection and this would be great for sharing!

7 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Just moved my Plex server to VM on home server and slapped extra 20TB of disk space to it (20TB NAS is getting awfully full).
Time to visit local library's DVD section and nearby flea market again.

8 hours ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Have a link for how to do this? I would love to set one up for my living room. Right now I'm having to transport movies from my pc, via usb drive, and then plug it in to my TV. I have spare computers. I just dont have the knowledge.

4 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Only issue is hard drives, trying to expand and wd cancelled my orders, everything out of stock

4 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lol yea im upwards of 15tb rn. Platter hdd for the win on cost and longevity. My 1 tb has outlived like... an unimaginable amount of other things. It has over 10 years of running time. Lol says less than 180 days left but im pretty sure it said that 3 years ago.

8 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Do one better and find a VCR

7 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I would but honestly... im questioning the longevity of magnetic tape storage. 50 years of degradation is about a 20% magnetic decay. Even in perfect stored climate. Eventually cds and dvds will have the issue of plastic degradation and oxidation of the foil layer but i feel like it might last longer.

7 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Good luck finding one that isn't just a tape eating machine these days. My last 3 yard sale pulls were all basically mimics that thought VHS tapes were adventurers. Fortunately you can get multiple copies of Titanic (2 tapes) for 50¢ apiece at any Goodwill to test with.

4 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I just got me a JVC BR8600. More expensive than the usual CVRs but they're easy to service and clean.

3 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have 2 already. VHS/DVD-R combo and old top load Panasonic that waits a new drive belt. Paired with Sony Trinitron 28" with enough different inputs to get a picture out of a ship biscuit if need arises.

7 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I need to check out some pawn shops

7 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You might want to learn basic soldering and how to drain voltage from capasitators/CRT's. Most old stuff needs some recapping and other TLC before plugging them in.
