As long as it pisses off the people who are pissed off by rainbow logos, I'm fine with it.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Can we not think of something a little more clever than the same image every single bloody year?

Yes, we know corporations are being performative and don't care beyond the pink dollar. But a) It's at least making things more mainstream and accepted, 2) You don't need to give them your money, just enjoy Pride and ignore their obvious efforts.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

On the other hand, there’s companies like my employer, that has year-round D&I events and actually-inclusive policies… but just keep quiet about it until the marketing drones pull out the rainbow paint once each year.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Well, I guess I'll stay away from those corporations.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The only company that truly gets a pass from me on this is Subaru. They embraced the LBGTQ+ community back in the 90s, and have not budged on it. Yeah it originally started as marketing, damn clever marketing, after they realized their main consumers were lesbians, but they didn't have to stick with it, hell they already were selling cars to that demographic fairly strongly.

Vault-Tec absolutely made a Vault that exclusively admitted gay couples to see how they'd handle the need to reproduce

Soylent Corporation is accepting of all people year-round.

Hahaha, nice. The Soylent Corp, "we're here for the people".

What about the Sirius Cybernetics Corporation?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Tell it to their complaints department.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Those people are too stupid to get the joke.

I'm not surprised InGen supports LGBT+ rights.
They were the first company to make trans dinosaurs! =p

Pride was initially ruined for me after having the epiphany that corporations didn't want gay people, they wanted gay people money.

Then I learned some history on Pride, and while it's still a kind of "fuck them corporations," we've definitely come a long way as a society to turn a rebellious act of demanding the right to exist- into a celebration of our existence.

I sincerely hope it continues to be the latter.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

It didn't click for me that this was a thing until, I was living in Washington State and walking into a Chase bank. Pride flags everywhere. Went back to my home state a couple of weeks later (still during Pride month), not one single tiny rainbow anywhere.

No vault-tec either?!

No Blue Sun?

It's that time of year when companies only show their pride in countries where it is profitable.

2 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 5

Also in countries where supporting LGTBQ+ won’t get their staff literally gruesomely murdered.

Yes you have a point about virtue signaling for profit but please don’t forget that there are many places in the world where showing support is a death sentence. And it’s unfair to demand companies throw their employees to the hateful fanatics who will gladly carry out that sentence with no repercussions.

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

I'm disappointed in Vandalay Industries for not joining in

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Isn't Florida one of the states that made it pretty much legal to drive your vehicle into a group of protesters? Yup. The Anti-Protest Law. https://www.vice.com/en/article/88n95a/florida-anti-rioting-law-will-make-it-much-easier-to-run-over-protesters-with-cars

I wonder what would happen if this was used against them. Drive into a crowd of Desatan supporters.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

they'd have to run into the street and block you in for the law to take effect

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Put some Trump Sucks or DeSantis as Satan flags on your vehicle and your good to go

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Gee I wonder if the violent hated for LGTBQ people that pervades the Middle East and would risk employees of these companies being murdered if they showed support might be a reason…

Could be. Or it could be capitalism at it's finest 🤷

You don't see this kinda woke pandering from Roxxon or Vault-Tec, just saying /s

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Oh, Roxxon would 100% do this.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm actually for SCP even if they treat death row inmates very inhumanely. They try to understand and protect your average citizen from [REDACTED] and things like [REDACTED].

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

That, and the Foundation is actually pretty decent when it comes to respecting LGBTQ+ folks and treating them with dignity.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I believe I read some lore where they found an artifact that switched a person's biological sex. It was determined "safe" by all scientists and all personnel with enough clearance could use it making some trans people working for SCP really really happy.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I am quite sure SCP has thar year round

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Oh no, you've been in Room [REDACTED], haven't you? I'm so, so sorry.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not these guys.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

Well, they ARE all dead.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You haven't seen the Lost: Epilogue - The New Man in Charge?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes. Ben tells the last two out-of-the-loop dipshits that the Dharma Initiative hasn't existed in twenty years.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not officially dead. Just lost.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's progress. I remember when most companies wouldn't dare to associate with anything remotely gay. They're still companies, they're not good, but even though changing your logo is such I tiny thing I do appreciate it.

2 years ago | Likes 52 Dislikes 6

But they only do it where they consider it safe to do so. Like this does not happen in the Middle East, because being gay is literally a crime there.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It'll last precisely as long as they think they can glom some profit out of it and not a picosecond longer. The only useful thing about it is as a vague weathervane for the balance of public pressures.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Target cut it short last year because pedophiles and Nazis complained

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

and I think employees were actually assaulted by the lunatics

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'll take them not making a rainbow logo but also not funding anti-LGBTQ+ politicians over rainbowing their logo and pouring millions of dollars into people trying to destroy LGBTQ+ rights.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

it's not progress, it's profit and they switch as soon as they see their bottom line at risk because of customer outcry.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

But that is progress. It's showing that now, the money is in showing acceptance.

They're saying "we'll make more money pandering to the LGBTQIA+ community than we'll lose by upsetting the "Right".

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Yeah; then you had companies like Subaru who lowkey supported/marketed to queer folk for years, but never openly. Instead their ads featured small details that most folks never picked up on: note the license plate on the right car. https://priceonomics.com/how-an-ad-campaign-made-lesbians-fall-in-love-with/

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's not progress, it's just purely performative grandstanding to farm gay people for revenue.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

It's a sign that society is progressing if they judge it worth it.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Nah I don't like our flag being used for corporate whitewashing/targeted advertising

2 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 8

Tough, everyone gets advertised at. Companies are run to try and compete for our money, regardless of preference. If you don't like, don't buy their goods/services

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

They'll stop, once we've won, but until then I enjoy seeing bigots pissed off at the mere sight of it.

2 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 5

It's not a good thing in and of itself, but it's a good sign that the queer community is seen as worth advertising to rather than running from. Everyone else gets pandered to, after all.

I have seen people as recently as last week lose their shit over this image. When explained, I've heard "Well, then I'm not watching those shows or playing those games then...". Yep, and we're not talking Southern US either...

2 years ago | Likes 133 Dislikes 7

Reminds me of how there's a new conservative adult animated show called Mr Birchum. There is this gay character, explicitly written to make fun of gay people (not support them), and there's this video of someone filming their angry mother refusing to watch the show, because there's a gay person in it. Probably because it looks like a Family Guy knockoff and they hate those too.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's when you let them know that they've self -identified as BRH (bigot, racist and homophobe) with no sense of humor or sense because they were so busy being triggered by the sign they did not actually -read- the sign. (These are fictional company logos)

That's actually what people thought they were going to do on January 6th. We DON'T want to shut it all down and start over, we have a Constitution that is flexible through a defined and carefully operated process for a reason. What needs turned off is the GOP/MAGA, and LEFT off.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

There is no hate quite like Christian love.

I love in Florida and when you're in big cities like Tampa, Orlando or Miami you'd be surprised how "liberal" we are but as soon as you leave the city limits you can almost hear the banjos start playing. This place makes no sense to me.

2 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 4

In a lot of ways Chicago is similar once you get past it's suburbs.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Just like Nebraska. Omaha has its own electoral vote. As soon as people have to live together, it's almost as if they can't vote like assholes anymore.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Entire counties like Polk, banjo it up real good.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yep - big difference between Kissimmee and say, Sanford or even Lake Mary, let alone going east from there.

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

I'm in Winter Haven...It seems to be a flip-a-coin place. Either you meet someone who doesn't care one way or the other, a reasonable liberal, or a MAGAt you'd swear has his sister's name tatooed on his dick

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Maybe when it stops being such a pos towards minorities, and progresses. As is theres not much to celebrate here.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

And by "free", they mean free to do what you're told.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

There are only two sides to everything: the correct way and someone just being political. You can be white or political, straight or political, cisgendered or political, christian or political. They just "don't want to be political" about it because their in-group is the default and any discussion might erode that inherent bias.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

They discourage all forms of discussion because they know their beliefs are fragile. Don't ask questions, just do what you're told.

Hard to believe not that long ago Orlando shooting at a gay club and everyone was supporting pride day

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

The problem, right now, is that Floridians are in general good people who are alright with LGBTQ+ people existing. But they're led by a cult who has spent decades and multiple billions designing voting regions to carefully cultivate their election results. And that's how DeSantis is still walking around free instead of being in jail for human rights violations.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Does Ron DeSantis know what "irony" is?

2 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

"Irony" is the flavor of his soul. barf

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Ooo ooo! I can do better!! "He bloody doesn't."

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He doesn't know what a lot of things are.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

He knows. He's just trying to pander to the angriest, most atavistic Red Hat voting bloc in hopes of being the next Trump.

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Sadly, he's already tried and failed at that. Now he's trying to rebuild his asshole point balance after blowing it all on Casey flying first class.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

OK, I have a "brilliant" idea. Make the "white" part actually red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple flashing sequentially at about camera shutter speed. Looks white to the naked eye, but photo cameras will capture it like a rainbow flag.

2 years ago | Likes 66 Dislikes 2

The problem with that is that lights to flash that fast are expensive.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Projector?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Where there's a will, there's a way. I love this sort of thinking!

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Could also use some creative liberties. The trans pride flag can be made with white, blue, and "lightish red".

2 years ago | Likes 230 Dislikes 5

We're actually more than half democrats. It's just re-distracting that forces the state to barely go red every election. But sure, lump all 19 million people into one idiot mess. That's not discrimination in itself at all.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 9

You say that, but your state races with senators and Governor all went Republican, districts don't have anything to do with those.

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 2

The districts are restructured every 2 years. But sure, keep defending your view of an entire population based on where they live. You're more of a maga POS than you think.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 14

Districts have absolutely nothing to do with Senate or governor elections, they only matter in the house of representatives. The claim was that there are more democrats than republicans, but the voting history says otherwise. Both senators and the governor are republican. Either there are more republicans than democrats, or the democrats don't vote.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Do you actually think they know what the word 'irony' means? They sure as hell don't know what 'hypocrisy' means....

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

The state has had a concerted political target campaign going on since 2014 that didn't get a peep out of the news networks. The state of Florida arrests democrats at a rate 16x higher than conservatives. Conservatives have almost entirely violent crimes. Democrats mostly have drug crimes. Somehow the cons always seem get to keep their rights.

Republicans have zero self awareness or capacity of self-reflection.

2 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

This extends to having zero media literacy, too. They thought Homelander was a good guy! It's a total lack of comprehension of gray areas or context. Anyone in the in-group is good, anyone in the out-group is bad, and that's as deep as it gets. LGBT or BLM awareness is for the out-groups, so therefore bad.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

That assumes they have the same definition of freedom. For you or I, freedom means the ability to do anything that doesn't harm others. For them, freedom means their right to tell you that you can't.

That's come to be the norm for the Right. Patriotism means treason. Religious Freedom means christofascism. Masculine means fragile gender identity. Freedom means control. So they assume everyone else is in Backwards Day too, so naturally Antifa means pro-facism, for instance.

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

I've always wondered how Republicans get pro-fascism out of Antifa. The word Anti is a part of it and Fa means Fascism. But, this all comes down to their inability to educate themselves and instead they rely on their handlers to tell them what to believe.
