We really should be subsidizing electoral migrations to move blue voters into more swing districts/states in order to turn the tide. We could easily take a million blue voters from Cali and take back multiple Red States.
please tell me you live in one of the counties where there are 30 people living but somehow get to decide 20% of the vote in the state (electoral collage BS) - im not saying that the 3 major cities arnt happy to get another voter - only that it's the sticks where we need the voter to actually understand politics and most dont.
In 2008 the GOP won Texas by 11.75%, in 2020 they won by 5.58%. Their margin dropped by more than half in just three cycles. Texas will almost certainly flip in the near future.
Texas is more purple than most realize. They just have some really loudmouth right wing politicians. You see DNC going to war there? That's because they are winnable fights. They don't waste $$ on clear lost causes.
Texas to Virginia a few (or more) years ago - same sentiment. Helped turn Virginia blue for Obama and elect two democratic senators. Volunteering to canvass and help with rides to the poll was tough but worth the effort. I’m close enough to PA that I’m thinking about trying to volunteer up there this fall. If you’re able, consider joining in also? https://web.kamalaharris.com/forms/take-action-for-kamala-harris/
IF you live in Texas their are not registered Democrats than Republicans. Republicans win, not by very much, because Republicans vote 75% or more of the time. DEMOCRATS vote 20-30% of the time. Texas could EASILY be blue. Dems keep giving it up
Small business owners got to make sure their employees are tied up working around voting time. Big business owners will send out an email telling eveyrone that there might be layoffs if a dem wins. Rural business owners will tell everyone that dems are trying to take their guns while paying them peanuts to work at their businesses.
I, too, moved from Texas to PA. I love that we still have seasons here. 422 is the devil! Dorney park is a must (get the funnel cake) and find your local ice cream shop. Sending good vibes!
Where in PA, I grew up here and moved back just before the pandemic, from VA/MD. When I got my DL before the 2020 election I had to wait outside of the DMV for about 4 hours because of the required distancing...etc.
I moved from Illinois to Michigan since the last Presidential election, so I'm in the same boat. It has it's benefit and drawback. The benefit is we might actually matter. The drawback we will be bombarded by far more ads and general political nonsense than the non swing states.
The greatest trick Republicans ever pulled was to convince young voters their vote doesn't matter. Maybe it's a drop in the bucket on the headline candidates and issues, but if you vote the entire ticket you always have an impact. I was not immune to the trick. I believed it for a long time. Don't be like me. Learn from my mistakes, not yours.
As someone in a red area of a red state, not a single person I have voted for in the past 8 years has won the state/position. I'll keep voting but I understand it feeling useless sometimes.
This. It's demoralizing but I'm gonna keep doing it. Maybe if enough of us can make it close, we will convince others to actually participate. I'm in KY so my governor votes were successful, but pretty much all my other votes haven't been. Never once has my vote contributed to the president, thanks to the electoral college.
I live in Texas after living in Chicago and then Michigan. Way harder to register to vote and then vote in texas. Texas will stay red because it’s designed that way. I hope it changes but not this cycle
Having grown up in the Pittsburgh area & lived for some time both on the Main Line outside Philly & in the Poconos, may I offer my sincere condolences. On the other hand, I'm glad you're there voting this year. CA probably wouldn't miss my blue ticket vote if I left, but knowing that someone is there making up for my lack of participation in PA helps me feel better. 3 of my family members moved to NC recently, so you'll help offset the loss of their votes as well. Give 'em HELL! Make it count.
I've driven every inch of that road. Hitchhiked most of it too, back in the early 70s when that was a thing. It has its moments, most of them long, especially the Nebraska part. yeesh.
Today was better than yesterday. But it’s August in Houston and the heat index is way over 100 for most of the daylight hours. But I will gladly take that over 19 F with a stiff breeze.

I really loved Philadelphia when I was there, what an amazing city, full of art and beautiful cathedrals!

Have you heard about the electoral college?
EroticZombiePants
And Pennsylvania is one of the swing states either candidate can actually reasonably win.

Voting always means something. Texas nearly turned blue in 2020. And local districts always need our attention. MAGA is trying there too.

Texas is solid blue if everyone votes.

Texas isn't a Red state, Texas is a non-voting state. If all the people who *registered Democrat* actually voted, it would be a complete Blue blowout.

I move from SC to NC partially for the reason my vote will count for more. The other part is I had to leave the apartment I was in.

I'm happy you're happy, but votes always matter. Georgia senate seats would still be fascist otherwise.
Clockworkdancerobot
Case in point: City and state election boards, education boards, council seats were being targeted by some of the MAGA types.
MichaelScarnSecretAgentAgency
Totally get what you are saying, but I lived in a deep red area…and it just felt like a blue drop.
mike13815
Most areas in texas are blue, but the propaganda and overt voter suppression ensure the polls never go that way.

I'm from Texas and lived in Georgia for 10 years. I helped flip it blue. Votes always matter.

I’m jealous, but feel free to repost about how it is in late January. I did my 50 Winters up North. I’m done with that.
