Even the safety isn't full proof. I've seen gun handling demos where the safety has failed.

M4s have non positive safeties. It only blocks the trigger from being pulled. It doesn't block the firing pin. Not that this mattered above.

AR15,M4s,M16s etc,have a floating firing pin.Unless that rifle is in serious need of maintenance (unlikely) it will not fire with safety on
True but it's just a layer. Engaging the safety pulls your finger off the trigger. And if the gun still goes off, there is a malfunction
On an M16/M4/AR you can cycle the safety with your thumb. If the gun goes off, it is on the shooter.
