You're using a device I haven't infiltrated? - Google, probably

How dare Google approach device security in an appropriate measure! Minor inconveniences be dammed!

As a sailor who's underway bandwidth is shit and uses roaming profiles, this is my hell.

All fun and games until you don't recognize the login.

to me it's always seemed like "hey was this you?" "cool, just making sure you're alright, bro."

Good. That's what I want google to do.

The rock really needs to go outside now looking how pale he is

My biggest grief is how you have to change your mobile number in multiple areas. Your accnt ph # and ph# they text are separate prompts smh

They actually stopped a login-attempt from Amsterdam while I was home in Norway a year or two ago. That was the day I got myself a 1/2

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

password manager and stopped using the same password everywhere. Real wakeup-call. 2/2

I had to return a tablet to the store, because some moron logged in with their Google account on Setup. Did factory reset after,I presume1/2

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

testing, and send it to me. BUT, now you can't Setup the device without logging in with the previous account.

I do appreciate that tbh. 2FA really helps especially if you have a shit password

6 years ago | Likes 112 Dislikes 2

If only it remembered your device. I'm spending more time rezzing old mailboxes due to the 2FA than I'm accessing my accounts

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

unless you lose your phone w/ your 2fa and then try to message your former "tech guy" to try and see if he can get you in to your email

Thought I had a good Steam password, but the next day after I turned on 2FA, I had a request from an unknown device. Changed my password

I agree, when google locked my account because someone logged in from Taiwan I was pretty happy because I live nowhere near Taiwan :P

2FA is a specif use-case that should never have been applied to consumer usage.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 8

Would you be willing to elaborate?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In 140 characters ? Not much. Basically: SMS is not a secure medium. And 2FA for consumers means SMS (forget other devices or cold storage).

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

2FA also includes apps and email.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thank you. That clears it up immensely for me.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You can fix that by not creating a shit password to begin with.

6 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 4

Even if you don't have a shit password, it's nice to be alerted to attempts. If it wasn't me, someone else is trying to guess my password.

6 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Create a password: Must be 8-12 characters, must ave letters, must have lower case and upper case leters, must have numbers.
