Nobody wants it to happen, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the majority of Canadians are expecting an invasion from the US.

All the fantasies about guardrails in the form of laws, the courts, the constitution, or military members refusing illegal or immoral orders — that’s out the window.

The Globe & Mail newspaper is VERY conservative — not in the sense of screeching about trans men in bathrooms, but in the older sense of hating change and political passion. The fact that even they are talking about war with the USA is a major indicator that mainstream Canadians have become fatalistic about going to war to protect our independence.

And if you think this is just about Trump and the GOP, think again. The vast majority of Germans who fought in WWII were not members of the Nazi party.

What I’m saying is that it’s getting harder and harder to distinguish between “good” and “bad” Americans.

As an American, help.

Here's a thought: Maybe don't try going 1v1 against the one military that spends more than the next nine combined. Our strength lies in numbers, but those numbers only exist if we can unite internationally against US imperialism. Until we unite, America will just harrass everyone while attacking a handful of countries at a time. Question is, how do we unite when the US already has so much control, especially over our communication tech?

Appeasement will not work. Canada will be on the list, if he's allowed to have his way with Central America and Greenland.

We've never had a two front war on our own turf before, and president trump and his buddies are trying fo fast track a multi front war with Canada, Mexico, and parts of South America.

Shout out to Fallout for writing the playbook to this one.

Note: The rockets and bombs in our national anthem were the Canadians. Please don't piss off Canada, you won't like the result.

Yeah, as Americans, we need to STOP supporting the military. If they won’t say no to fascism, they deserve the body bags they get 🤷🏻

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

interesting point. America has a terrible record when it comes to taking part in war games against Canada. Canada does things that are unexpected and not in the American war playbook.

first joke would be watching their heavy artillery getting bogged down as the freeways crumble under them. American freeways are thick slabs of reinforced concrete so the army can move the equipment if they have to. Canada doesn't build that way.

In the same manner as we don't distinguish between good and bad Germans from the 1940's, historians just call them all Nazi's, we don't need to distinguish between MAGA and non-MAGA Americans looking back at this era.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

American (not by choice) here and it's pretty obvious that the US has become the 4th Reich.

2 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

We've literally had war games practicing this EXACT scenario, please the rest of the world, take it for what it is and prepare accordingly. Don't wait to properly stage things.

Given his rhetoric, and insanity, I am curious if any of the US allies have privately contemplated an assassination. I mean, if a guy is the SOLE person responsible for full fledged invasions of countries now and threatens to invade you, I’d imagine intel services would get a little antsy.

I'm about an hour drive from downtown Toronto. I have been stocking up on food, and making plans for what to do in emergency situations. My wife ordered iodine pills from the power company, too.

I'm not certain it's going to be happen, but I'm not certain it won't.

47 has obviously never learned about Canadians in WW1; they necessitated a whole new tribunal about whether something is a guerilla tactic versus a war crime.

Did I say, 'war crime?'

I meant to say, 'enthusiastic game of hockey.'

1st rule of political war is stop shooting when you can't tell "good" from "bad", active or collateral.

2 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

We won't. This administration is a bully and will not mess with anyone willing to fight back.

And, it's only harder to distinguish between “good” and “bad” Americans because you are not looking for the good ones and our media not giving them a platform. It's easier to lump us all together and form one narrative.

Invading Greenland easily requires violating Canadian airspace and/or sea-space. Canada is also part of NATO. Any move against Greenland will force a confrontation with Canada.

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Not necessarily ... the UK is helpfully providing all kinds of logistical support for a buildup, so if they go in they'll be moving from the other direction.

I've pointed out for years, that the corrupting influence in the US, the terrorist-right, is composed solely of surviving defeated enemies of state, who have ALL pledged to rebuild and try to destroy the nation again, from within. That the only way to stop them is to be rid of them all.

If they attack us, and I have to take up arms, I'm not putting them down until the job is done.

Canadian here: We wouldn't field our military against an American invasion, they would be split off to supplement and lead local insurgency militias all across the country, disrupting at "seemingly" random to split the U.S forces.
Simo only had his hunting rifle and Canadians have a lot of hunting rifles up here.
During WW1 and WW2, Canadians invented new war-crimes and wrote the book on guerrilla-warfare.

I've always said, one man, if sufficiently motivated, could clear out the entire WBC compound in a single night. Now imagine an entire nation with that kind of determination, all coordinating together in defense of their nation.

I'm an American. Canada should seek to get nuclear armed as quickly as possible. The American military will invade.

Canada has the next largest oil and mineral reserves in the western hemisphere. Trump's cabinet has a plan to stabilize US currency as a Petro-dollar. They see it as a Canada must surrender themselves or else the entire US economic engine collapses so there will be no price too great that they will pay to annex Canada.

What a time to be alive... A decade ago I would've laughed at a comment like this, but now... completely realistic.

2 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

The US and some of its allies have taken to stealth attacks against sovereign countries wishing to further enhance their abilities to defend their interests. Iran's nuclear capabilities and R&D have been bombed, missiled, spoofed, and infected with viruses. I don't see those fucking Americans standing by while Canada spends the next decade debating the merits and the following decade building the program necessary.

Ask the American if they support trump.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

How about I ask them if they're actively resisting Trump?

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Does posting memes against him count?

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm not Canadian, so it's not my decision. But I propose that they require some of the memes be educational. Even right-wingers (of the "apolitical" variety) might randomly post anti-Trump memes. But I would be shocked if they ever posted anything educational.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's not a matter of it, but when. Trump thinks that he can take on the entire world and win. It's a common belief among americans for some reason. But while they might cause a lot of damage to other countries, they'd also take a lot in return. At best they would be in a lose/lose situation.

2 months ago | Likes 56 Dislikes 2

He probably knows he can't take on the whole world at once. He's told Netanyahu before that "you can't fight everyone". So don't underestimate your enemy. Really he's just confident that the world isn't uniting to stop him. Everyone is either condemning or going along with it, but it seems no one is building an international resistance against American imperialism.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We won both world wars and every generation that came after them all have raging hard ons that we are invincible and exceptional as a military.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

America invading Canada would have them win but they'd either use their best equipment and most a bunch and it would cost a fucking insane amount or a lot of dead people. If they decide to go scorched earth, basically a recession for them and Southern Ontario and Quebec get flattened. Who knows what terrorism and secession happens in the US if that happens

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'd love to see the US invade Canada in the winter. To quote a comedian: "You want to fight Canada in the winter? We'd arm ourselves at Canadian Tire, it would be over in 15 minutes."

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We should never get to the "can" phase.
We should stop well before even the "should" phase.
This is not America. This is America taken over by foreign powers through Fox News and other destructive propaganda.

2 months ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

And yet other than some protests by citizens, it seems like no one has any interest in actually stopping the dictators from consolidating their power. Trump has done MANY things that he should be impeached and charged for, and yet no one does anything. He defied court orders many times and all they did was tell him to stop...

I think the Americans who think like this are because they haven't actually had the war land on their own soil. Ask Ukrainians, Vietnamese, Koreans or anyone in the middle east who has fought on their own doorsteps. None of them are so nonchalant about any of this because they understand the costs personally. Most of the people in America who already lived thru the resource scarcities of war aren't just around anymore.

2 months ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

It's also because they mix up NATO and the US. NATO's so enormous it literally could "fight the whole dojo" - it's collectively got a higher population than any country, most of the world's money, and something like 3/5 of humanity's military equipment.

America is about 3/10th of NATO's power. America - standing alone, is much weaker. The worst thing they'd lose is the ability to move stuff - without bases all over the world, America's superpower of being able to go anywhere, evaporates.

Bloody hell, ask any European country. Sure, we've got a dozen very cowardly reasons to explain our milquetoast, approach to every single ongoing conflict. But one very good reason is that the first 2 world wars were fought in great part on our soil, and it was the blood of our grand- and great-(great-)-grandparents that soaked the trenches and the Nazi camps, and it was our war economies and reconstuction that made the US fat with our debt money. So we know a thing or two about stupid wars.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Americans will never understand or have to feel that pain since no one is going to land on California beaches or cross the Canadian/Mexican borders to attack. * knock on wood*

And I honestly hope they never have to. The innocents don't deserve to suffer for the vanity of the stupid.

Canadian here. I've always thought of my American cousins as friends. Not anymore. If you sunsabitches wander north of the medicine line with conquest on your minds, better ask yourselves how many of your sons and daughters you're willing to sacrifice to that project.

As an American citizen, the answer is I’m willing to sacrifice none. I don’t even WANT to mess with Canada. Our batshit, dipshit, bullshiter president pedophile on the other hand, is absolutely insane and does whatever the fuck he wants because our congress just lets him

I’m an American. I’d rather be Canadian than a fascist MAGA fuckwad

As a fellow canadian, there are a reason we call it the "Geneva suggestions" sure, an american military would fuck us up in the first push, but i dont think they understand just how long and how rough the unrest would be.

As a Canuck, I share the same sentiment but I have to ask: With what will we defend ourselves? How, exactly, are we to kill Fascist-American invaders when our government has prevented us from owning weapons with which to defend against, say, home invaders? We have no guns or stashes of ammo. Our military is peacekeeper-grade at best in terms of the quality and amount of materiel. Trump himself could lead an armored column down the QEW from Niagara and no one would stop him.

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 5

Hello, neighbour. Sorry to hear you don't have your own stash of firearms and ammunition. But there's a fix for that, you know... :)

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You aren't going to face down an armored column with a handgun. If you would like to get a rifle though, you can apply for your PAL

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My friend, as a US citizen, I'd like to remind you that you guys are nice not because you're weak, but because if you're not, you'll break us, and apologize for our stupidity while doing it. You've burned the White House to the ground before. It may soon be time to do it again.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I'm all aboard the fuck the US train, but people really downplay the military differences between our coutries. If the US decides to go fully off the rails it's not gonna go well for it's immediate neighbors especially at the start.

2 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 4

Too bad. When fighting an aggressor 10 times your size, you need to take away the will to fight so they fuck off and stop trying to invade your land. And we sure as hell aren't going to be fair about it.

2 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

"Its people" don't seem to be doing an awful lot to stop it.

2 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Sadly people elected him, and nothing is being done about it. If Trump messes with the world it is at the cost of US citizens. You know he won't stick his neck out for anyone except himself.

2 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Canadian here - it's hardly a rogue government ignoring the will of the people. Roughly half your voters have voted for Trump in the last 3 elections stretching back almost a decade.

Obviously the other half is against it, but the issue runs pretty deep in your society and can't be neatly pinned on "the government"

2 months ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

Fair, can you at least hate the half that voted for him, i sure didn't

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don't really hate them. I reserve that for those pulling the strings and the worst of the electorate - but for the most part I consider Republican voters to be more stupid than evil.

But my dollars aren't that discerning so I've cut most of the spending I can that sends them south of the border.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

American here. Upstate NY actually so we're really neighbors. Here's the thing. A lot of American people totally deserve to be hated. We do have deeply rooted issues here, specifically with anyone who doesn't look like a Caucasian Christ. But a lot of us truly do care for each other. And those are the lot of us who didn't vote for this piece of shit human. So no, you cannot just pin it on the government. But you can't just assume we're all like Drump. We're not. I assure you. Love you, Canada.

2 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

The problem is the result, you can have all the good intention in the world if your government attack us, and you guys didnt do enaugh illegal action to prevent that from happening, bombs will fall and you and your loved one might die because you didnt do illegal action when yoh could to try prevent a worst fate.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hate isn't a big motivator for me, except for a few who really, truly deserve it. I don't hold you all equally responsible, but I am more or less boycotting your country for the time being. I hope y'all can fix your political system because being your neighbour is not a relaxing proposition - though I'm sure being a resident is even worse.
