Using Chromecast without the Internet

One Android cell phone must be used. Only for initial setup is another device capable of casting needed. No mobile data used

One Android cell phone capable of "mobile hotspot" is needed.

Only for this initial setup will we need another device capable of picking up Wi-Fi and capable of casting.

Once the setup is complete, you will be able to use your phone either cast local media from your phone, or allow other devices to use you phone's antenna to cast their local media (all without using Wi-Fi or mobile data)

Start with "Wi-Fi" on, and "mobile hotspot" off

When you first setup your Chromscast it had to be paired with a Wi-Fi network, We begin with your Andoid cell phone connected to the same Wi-Fi network that the Chromecast was setup. The Mobile hotspot is currently off, as shown.

Open "Settings"

Open settings and choose "More networks"

In "More networks"

Choose "Mobile hotspot"

Turn mobile hotspot "on"

Choose "ok"

Open the setting for the mobile hotspot by selecting the three vertical dots in the upper-right of the screen and then choose "configure hotspot"

Name your network

Name your network (or leave the default name) and scroll down to set your password

Open the Wi-Fi setting on the second device

On the second device, open the Wi-Fi settings and connect to the original Wi-Fi network that the Chromecast was paired with. (It probably already is)

Open Chromecast app

On the second devce, open the chromecast app, and select the name of your Chromecast

Choose "Wi-Fi"

Select "Wi-Fi"

Select the the Wi-Fi network

Select the name of the Wi-Fi network you are currently connected to. This will bring up a drop-down menu with the names of other available networks.

Choose the new Wi-Fi network

Choose the Wi-Fi network you are broadcasting from your mobile hotspot. This will pair the Chromecast with your mobile hotspot

Choose ok

Choose ok

Open LocalCast

Open LocalCast app on the either you Androif cell phone or the device you wish to cast from, and cast your local media.

Turn off mobile data

Turn off mobile data

Press ok

Press okay to prevent using any mobile data.

You are now casting videos from your device using a mobile hotspot without using any mobile data.
