This guy's last meal on death row, I am fairly certain what his color of skin is.

Last meal on death row

Two words.... Everlasting Gobstopper

This is fascinating.

13 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Say Ricky Ray Rector asked for Kool-Aid and fried chicken. *cross fingers* please don't be black, please don't be black. And BAM... Black.

13 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I would request a huge bowl of soup and a fork.

13 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

lol

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ricky Ray Rector, the cherry kool-aid detector.

13 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I would like your liver, with some fava beans and a nice Chianti. Pfft, pfft, pfft, pfft...

13 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 4

read it in hannibal's voice. second read: regular speed = worse sound ever. hahahah

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

LOL every comment i read was so serious, and then you happened!! +1 for the name, too!

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If you ask for the guard's liver as a last meal, what do they do? "Sorry man, he asked for it"

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Timothy McVeigh was responsible for the Oklahoma City Bombing, that's how his total is so high.

13 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

Yea, apparently people don't remember that and think he murdered them all personally by hand.

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Victor was hung, he was also the last case of the death penalty in Iowa and he was buried with the olive stone in his pocket. Wikipedia!1

13 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

+1 for first name basis, lol. +0 bc i perved the first three words of your post.

13 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

XD when i wrote it i giggled but the character limit stopped me from changing it

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

i would KILL for a meal like that..

13 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Thought of the same joke when I saw this. Checked to see if anyone else already posted. +1 to you!

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I always do when I think of something. 95% chance it's already been said. The other 5% of the time it's just not funny.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

inb4 Ricky Ray Rector is black

13 years ago | Likes 73 Dislikes 0

haha my thoughts also.. dident know how to say it nice, ..like you :P

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I thought that too. This was the only one I really felt bad for....he didn't even eat his pie :(

13 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

I went there, too, when I read it. Decided to wiki him. My suspicions were confirmed. lol

13 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

He's officially my hero. Gotta have a sense of humor even when on death row

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

yeah you did

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

TIL: Death by firing squad is still a thing.

13 years ago | Likes 87 Dislikes 0

I was just about to post the same thing. Found the news video of the event. I had no idea.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oklahoma and Florida still have firing squads, and a Virginia inmate was executed by the electric chair yesterday.

13 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Not anymore, I think he was the last one.

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

same with the chair. wtf florida.

13 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Wrote the exact same comment. Looks like it was done last in 2010 according to the good old wikipedia.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

(1/2)For her last meal she asked for a McRib and a Shamrock Shake. That should buy her a few months.

13 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I love Raising Hope !

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

(2/2) Those two are almost never available at the same limited time.

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Also, pretty cool post, OP.

13 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

What's Bulgary?!?!?!

13 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Seriously...thought I was the only one who noticed

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

well... Bulgari is a company that makes watches, but I don't know why that would be used there.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

well... Bulgogi is a korean dish, but I don't know why that would be used there.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

well... Bulgar is a kind of processed wheat, but I don't know why that would be used there.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

well... Bulgaria is a country, but I don't know why that would be used there.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Firing squad? What the fuck Utah!

13 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Hell, that's how I would choose to be executed.

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Sounds quicker and less painful than frying in an electric chair.

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

he chose that

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

This is probably one of the most deceptively interesting things I've seen on imgur. No sciency quotes, but intriguing nonetheless.

13 years ago | Likes 735 Dislikes 3

xactry

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Took the words from my mouth...

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It humanizes them. For instance, I smiled at the mint chip ice cream one. That man did horrifying things, but he can still love ice cream.

13 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Glad I wasn't the only one! I d'awwwed at the ice cream... Then saw his crimes. Then I craved mint ice cream.

13 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

yeah, i wish to get into the minds of people but never take the time to be morbid outside of movies or fiction. fascinating shit

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There's a book, Meals to Die For. Fascinating stuff, it's like accidental sociology.

13 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

For my last meal I would try to eat myself to death.

13 years ago | Likes 192 Dislikes 3

Gotta go with with those fishes with the poisonous parts!

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

John Wayne Gacy is a fat asshole.

13 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I'm a coeliac and I decided that long ago that in this circumstance, I would have pizza, bread, pasta and cake. Carpe Diem!

13 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Oh my god! I'm also coeliac and have what I call my 'death row list' of all the foods I can't have. You think you're the only one...

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I have given this some serious thought! No gluten-filled delicacy will be spared!

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My list: hot dogs, canoli, pizza, sponge cake, soft warm white bread. And for gluten free bread to be shot by a separate firing squad.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh canoli! I'm Irish &we can't get that over here but I've tried the filling while in NY&drooled over the thought of having the whole thing

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As a diabetic, I would like 200 sugar cubes, please.

13 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Laughed SO HARD at this. Thank you for brightening my shitty day.

13 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Gacy was on the right track with KFC to that end...

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

GG Death Row Inmate: attempts to answer the age old question on whether you would double in size or disappear entirely.

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

He should have chosen the Twilight movies, he would look forward to the firiing squad.

13 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

Who do I have to kill to get some decent food over here?

13 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

btw I made an account just to tell you that

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This wins best comment ever

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If I'm ever on death row, I'm request an All You Can Eat buffet. If I eat slowly enough, they'll never get me.

13 years ago | Likes 55 Dislikes 3

if only you could say the same about the diabeetus

13 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Most places you can only request meals that they can make in the cafeteria at the correctional facility that the person is being held.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

How do you know this?? Death row inmate?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Mayyyyybbbeeeeee

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Don't shit on my DREAMS

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It's disappointing how many people don't know what Timothy McVeigh was responsible for.

13 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 1

Some are probably not Americans. Plus Imgur has some young people on here...

13 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

does 16 count as young?

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In this instance because this event happened 16 year-olds were born, so most wouldn't recognize the name with the deed.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As an Oklahoman, I know exactly what he did. And I want to take a shit on his grave.

13 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Amen, sister.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'd request a McRib and a Shamrock Shake, because how often are those available at the same time? They could never kill me.

13 years ago | Likes 55 Dislikes 1

WHAT'S A SHAMROCK SHAKE!? I'm from Australia...

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I think I would rather take the death sentence than have to suffer through a McRib to be honest :D

13 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Waaah? It's so good...tho I do take off the pickles.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Timothy McVeigh, I like where you head is at... besides the murder

13 years ago | Likes 65 Dislikes 4

*Murders, Mr President.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 6

Murder can refer to the action of murder. So we'll allow it.

13 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

My bad.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm not even surprised that a guy who killed 168+ people wanted shit tons of ice cream.

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

SOMEbody needs to check their thin privilege! xD Even mathematically that isn't even close to a single shit-ton.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

*Oklahoma City Bombing.

13 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

I am aware. I should have better clarified.

13 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Just besides the murder? http://www.lmgtfy.com/?q=timothy+mcveigh

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Ah, fuckin' A. He has my birthday...I'm not sure how I feel about that.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Give the man a break! xD He only has 140 characters.

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Right now, is head is rolling around in some grave, so...

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Ah I was thinking the same thing. I'm thinking "okay, he won so far, let's see what the rest got" and nobody beat it.

13 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Patrick Bateman's would be Sea Urchin ceviche from Dorsia

13 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 0

Yes!

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hah, nice! I would have enjoyed it if the film had ended that way. Maybe Dorsia would still decline him.

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

nice one!

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

but let's be real. The Bateman will never be caught

13 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

New York Matinee called it a playful but mysterious little dish

13 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

My grandparents used to frequent the same supper club as John Wayne Gacy. According my grandmother, there was something unsettling about him

13 years ago | Likes 118 Dislikes 2

I don't know what's much more unsettling then a child-killing clown.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Read IT by Stephen King.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah only this guy was REAL.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Maybe they saw some of his art: http://www.museumsyndicate.com/artist.php?artist=475

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

My friend's dad was friends with Ted Bundy's brother. The house they used to live in is still in Tacoma by Jubilee.

13 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

wait, it's in Tacoma? Damn, that's insane.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Quickly read that as "stripper club"...

13 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Pogo, the Killer Clown, so terrifying.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My grandfather met Idi Amin, who was a corporal in the Ugandan army at the time.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's weird. Usually people like that fit in perfectly... that's why it can take so long to find them

13 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

Who knows? She told me this years after everything came out. All I know is that I never saw her eat KFC ever.

13 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

The child murdering. I bet that was it.

13 years ago | Likes 75 Dislikes 0

I don't think Gacy was a pedophile. He was into teens and men in their early 20's, right?

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

also the raping. That's not ok either

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Logically, one would think they'd know if the inmate had a peanut allergy. But forget that. +1 for C&H.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I lol'd.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

aww you beat me to it!

13 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

This was good..

13 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

lol I just saw an episode of CSI Miami where someone did this lol

13 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

I was just thinking about that episode

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is the first thing that came to mind when I read the title of this post

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Interestingly enough i recall this happening in an old episode of CSI

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ironically if he didn't die they'd have to prolong the execution until he was "healthy enough to be killed"...whatever that means.

13 years ago | Likes 96 Dislikes 0

Kind of along the same concept of sterilizing the injection site.

13 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

bullet to the head, $.70, job well done

13 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 1

Bullets are expensive where you live.

13 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

it's better than 2 million in taxpayers money for some bullshit chemicals

13 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

Really, all they need is a syringe full of air to cause an air embolism, and the only cost would be the syringe.

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

168 Murders! 168! Can't even begin to fathom...

13 years ago | Likes 171 Dislikes 13

I hate that I posted the same thing and it didnt get any love.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

April 19th! my mom had to tear me away from the TV for my friend's 9th bday party. =/ friend was mad bc we wouldn't stop talking about it

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Jaw literally dropped when I read that number. Instantly Google session.

13 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

I'm going to give you the benefit here...I'm assuming you aren't American if you don't know who McVeigh is.

13 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

Omg I just googled him...found out he grew up an hour and a half away from where I did:P

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

he blew up a building...

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Umm they weren't separate serial murders. Timothy Mcveigh was the oklahoma city bomber...

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My friends dad arrested him, so weird being in 5th grade and having it all happen around you.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Timothy McVeigh was responsible for the Oklahoma City Bombing, which prior to 9/11/01 was the deadliest terrorist attack on US soil.

13 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

It was a truck bomb.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And... 19 of those were innocent little children at a day care facility on the 2nd floor of the building he blew up.

13 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

And he still got to choose his last meal.. Sickening

13 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

Yeah he shouldn't have had the option to choose.... No death-row prisoners should have the right to choose any-fuckin-thing O.o

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

One of the first major news stories I was aware of as a child. I guess many Imgurians were too young to remember or not yet born. Dang...

13 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It was before I'd even started school and I still remember hearing the boom from it... we though the trash truck had driven into the house

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I was too young to remember but I still know who he was...some people just don't care about history anymore :/

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In 1995 Timothy McVeigh blew up a federal building in Oklahoma City, OK, USA~ killing 168 and injuring hundreds more.

13 years ago | Likes 67 Dislikes 0

It's so scary that he grew up 30 mins from where I live.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Didn't know that was his name. Terrible. (Thanks.)

13 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 1

Many of whom were children in a daycare.

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

19 to be precise :(

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

just dont understand why he was convicted in indiana instead of oklahoma where the 168 murders happened

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He was charged with Federal crimes in a Federal trial, location was irrelevant. He was convicted in Denver, Co. He was exectued in Indiana.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

being from OKC it kinda hurts that they didn't give us okies who suffered at his hands the satisfaction of trying him in our state

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sad that this seems to be forgotten by so many, so soon.

13 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 1

Sad that the victims are forgotten. I don't care if that scumbag is.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I had that thought at first...then I realized there are people here that aren't old enough to remember, as well as people not from the US.

13 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

If anyone's ever in OKC, pop by and visit the memorial. We definitely haven't forgotten.

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Great point! I can't wait to go see it, thank you.

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Wait, do you mean that 168 counts of murder = 168 people killed by that man??? I'm not from the USA, so I don't know these terms.

13 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Yes. The Oklahoma City bomber, Timothy McVeigh, killed 168 and injured many more by blowing up a government building.

13 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Thank you.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No worries.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thank you (awful story).

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Including a bunch of kids...

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I've read that...horrible.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think the death penalty is warranted in a few cases. This was one of them.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It was an hideous case.I'm more in favor of life imprisonment, but I see your point.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sorry, firing squad? That is still a thing in Utah?

13 years ago | Likes 676 Dislikes 2

If I remember correctly, they just did away with the firing squad in Texas in the past few years.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

pretty sure everyone on death row has the option

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Watch Oz.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lots of things are still things in Utah. Like cavemen hunting dinosaurs and polygamy.

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I don't see an execution as a police officer's job. That's a mostly military thing. Anyway, fuck death penalty.

13 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 5

He requested it because of his "Mormon heritage" Also he wanted the state to look bad in time for the 2002 Olympics

13 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

Not sure, but I thought I heard about someone requesting to die that way in the past year or so. Probably not the same person though.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

and in Washington, i believe. can't recall exactly, but i looked up death penalty by state once...a few still have it.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It was no longer standard, but he threatened to sue if they wouldn't use it.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

yes... and in Utah, people commit Bulgary...

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

it was by his choice, something to do with blood atonement because of his religion

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Could have been a request. I think there's a town that still lets you pick hanging, too.

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'm pretty sure he requested it.

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Still technically in use in the US Military.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think it was a special request based on his religion & I think Utah had an assortment of methods.

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

he requested it, that's the only way you'll get it

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Firing squad is the most humane way to go. Lethal injection is performed by in experienced techs since docs are forbidden to carry it out.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's a lot easier to get some guards proficient with rifles. Death is nearly instant. Lethal inj paralyzes your diaphragm and you suffocate.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He requested it because of his "Mormon heritage" Also he wanted the state to look bad in time for the 2002 Olympics

13 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

they should still do a firing squad, its the cheapest way. i think its 6 men handed loaded rifles 4 have blanks 2 have live rounds.

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I wouldn't mind firing squad to be honest.

13 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 0

I'd rather a painless death myself...

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

yeah, i mean, if i had to go... not much classier than a blind fold and a cig.

13 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

I've personally always wanted, not a firing squad, platoon, or company, but a firing battalion and only like, 3 guys have blanks.

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

That or a tank column.

13 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

It's cost-effective and humane. No shooter really knows which bullet was real, and it's cheaper than the chair, the chamber or injection.

13 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Still wouldn't wanna be in the squad.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm not cool on the death penalty, but if we 'must,' then make it as cheap and painless as possible. LOTR FTW!

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Though by tradition, there are 6 shooters but with one gun loaded. His family counted six bullet holes in him.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That...shouldn't be the case. Call me naive, but things like that shouldn't go that way (in a perfect world, there's no death penalty, w/e).

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'd prefer this over injection or frying ...

13 years ago | Likes 58 Dislikes 0

Especially preferred over injection. The procedure isn't executed by trained personal and the sedation would not be enough to sedate a dog.

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I agree. It's over quick from what I've heard.

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Agreed - provided that your shooters are A) good shots B) not trying to make you suffer

13 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

from what ive been told it is five marksman but only one actually has a round in the chamber, the rest have blanks.

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

this is to conceal to the shooters which one is actually killing the man. this way is supposed to be easier on their conciseness.

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Other way. 4 live rounds, 1 blank. but getting shot in the heart with 4 high power rifles at once is a darn quick way to go.

13 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I think it's usually the other way around, with one marksman firing a rifle containing a blank. Same concept though - the 'conscience round'

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

i think you're right i probably remembered it incorrectly

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

One state out there still has hanging on the books. They just don't use it.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you were convicted before 1999 you got to chose among a number of methods.

13 years ago | Likes 133 Dislikes 0

They got to CHOOSE? My Aunt didn't get to choose when her boyfriend put a fucking bullet in her brain. This shit makes me sick.

13 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 6

+1 Agreed. Seemed interesting at first. But after I began to recognize some names..It just started pissing me off.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Death by old age?

13 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Chased off a cliff by naked ladies!

13 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

How humane....

13 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 3

He got to choose the way he went out. I'm sorry but how often does that happen. I think it's kind of nice. Compared to random accident.

13 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I was under the impression you were allowed to choose any means that was common practice at some point. Heard this before 1999 though...

13 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

I'm thinking he/she means a number of methods to be killed...

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I mean it wasn't an unlimited list...there were a number of options, like firing squad, electric chair, hanging, injection...

I can imagine the firing squad being like : OHH YEAH DUDE HE PICKED US. GO GET THE GUNS FROM THE ARMORY WE'LL HAVE A BLAST

13 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I'm not sure who, but I know one man chose to be hung but his lawyer claimed it was cruel and unusual punishment because the man was (1/2)

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That's about the time they began to rethink letting them choose their execution method. (3/3)

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

extremely heavy and the fall required to break his neck would have decapitated him. (2/3)

DEATH BY SNOO SNOO!

13 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Hey, they dont always die from letheal injection right away, Illinois had a moriatoruim on executions for a while cause of something

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Electric chair is no better

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The moratorium in IL (now an outright ban) was because dozens had been exonerated from death row in the last 15 years due to DNA evidence.

13 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The more you know, thanks

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If I recall correctly, he was the last one. It was based on an old Mormon theology called blood atonement.

13 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 11

Thanks. I was wondering the same thing.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

absolutely wrong. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/06/19/us/19death.html?_r=0 inmates were given the choice of guns or needles. He picked gun

13 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 1

How is that wrong? The article supported the fact that he is the last one up until now. And it's no longer allowed unless grandfathered.

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The Mormon theology part is wrong.

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I would say Brigham Young's Journal of Discourses outlines it pretty clearly.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why was the firing squad abolished anyway? Appears much more civilized to me than to be toasted on an electric chair

13 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

I'm guessing lawmakers had some issue with blood being spilt.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

or spilled, i guess, i'm not sure on the correct past tense.

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I agree, I'd prefer to take a bullet to the head and finish it rather than be restrained and tortured on a chair before dying.

13 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I believe it's because there is a higher chance of surviving/suffering with firing squad compared to chair/injection

13 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

maybe a firing squad could just be one man to put a bullet in his head...pistol right to the skull.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

you do realize firing squads have a much higher chance of you surviving the first round right?

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Even if the person survives the first round, how much time would he suffer until the second finishes him ? 0.32 seconds ?

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This brings several emotions out of me.

13 years ago | Likes 270 Dislikes 3

That fucking jail breakfast looked fucking good!

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

mostly hunger for me. i got the munchies like a motherfucker.

13 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Hunger?

13 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 0

Yeah...this posting made me hungrier than anything else. I'm a bad man.

13 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

How many people did this guy kill? Oh man, that steak looks amazing.

13 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

It's amazing how easily I can overlook murder when there's a charred piece of meat in front of me. I bet it smells good too...

13 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

You should read "Le journal d'un condamné" by Victor Hugo.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Commenting so I can remember to look up this book later...

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It shouldn't. These are bad men who didn't deserve the "last meal" that they were granted. None of their victims were.

13 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 14

Who cares? They're going to die regardless of what their meal is or who picks it.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Society has the right to kill folks like this, but I surely hope society feels remorse over it. You can feel both justified and remorseful.

13 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

Fair enough. I can respect that opinion. +1

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I would expect a comment like that from a guy named anarchistabe

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 6

wouldn't* i meant wouldn't. you're an asshat, abe

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

[2] That was sarcasm. They deserve nothing but a slow death. Also, TIL, we are all what our handle indicates! How is it being a pancreas?

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

could you be any more autistic?

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

That was autistic? lol. You used my username to insinuate that my opinion was less valid. I pointed out the gaping logic hole with that.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

These guys would slit your throat and fuck your corpse. But I agree, let's pay for them to rot in prison for the rest of their lives!

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

None of them being remorse for the murderers, its just simply... strange

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I don't follow. Are you criticizing me for not having remorse? Or are you criticizing the people who feel sorry for these monsters?

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Neither. I'm just gonna tell you to have a tall glass of chill the fuck out.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

many emotions here too. I was sad, even reading their murder counts. A single olive. Oh what a world.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It should because we should rise above and be civil even when these people can't.

13 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

I AGREE WITH YOU!

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They forfeit their rights the moment they decide to take a life. Civility is reserved for the civilized. Not monsters, but men.

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 6

Then we become monsters as well. This is already sanctioned murder.

13 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Wow. Bravo! You win the "Bleeding Heart Liberal" award for the day!!! Congrats! Do you have some prepared words?

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

They're still people. What does it say about a person who looks at them and falls to their level? Who rises above it?

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If I started slaughtering random people on the street, that's falling to their level. Their level is the killing on "innocnent" civilians.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That was actually my emotion. Seeing what this guys had a right to...

13 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

*these

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Also, I want to extend my appreciation towards you. Seeing all these "we shouldn't kill them" posts makes me sick. +1 for getting the point.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Good on you! I can't believe people defend these monsters and their "rights". You forfeited those when you stole someone else's life.

13 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Killing someone who killed someone else doesn't bring the victim back. Two wrongs don't make a right. I will just have to disagree.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Two wrongs do not make a right.

13 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

But three rights make a left. And killing a killer is justice. Pure, unadulterated justice.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

So by that logic, whoever killed these murderers should be killed as well, to make the third "right"

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

[2] one is sanctioned justice. The other is murder. One is the random act of a psychopath, the other is the end result of a due process.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

No. Why don't people get this part??? "Innocent" Civilian > killed by psycho. Psycho > killed by court appointed executioner.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

I argue that opinion. Regardless of how horrendous they may have been, we as "innocent" citizens had decided to take their life. 1/2

13 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 6

No, we didn't decide to take their life, THEY decided to take their life when they committed the crimes. Hang them high.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

That is simply untrue. When punishments of different magnitude vary across state borders, who knows if they knew the punishment in store.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Not knowing the punishment is not an excuse.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you strip away the mercy we give that their victims were denied then what is the true difference between their actions and ours?

13 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 6

Do you honestly see no difference? Slaughtering a soccer mom and executing John Wayne Gacy are the same in your eyes?

13 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 5

Killing someone is still killing someone, regardless if it's justifiable. How do you justify depravity to answer it? How are you better?

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 5

I see his point, it's not that black and white.

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Besides, is it not more of a cruel act to delay the execution with pomp and circumstance before disposing of them systematically?

13 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

I couldn't agree more. I have never been able to fathom the idea that we are showing that killing is wrong by executing people we deem to be

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1
