20% of the top earners are doing 80% of consumption, which is why the economy looks better than it feels for 80% of us. The stock market is not the economy, and this trick is AWESOME!

Welcome to Wall Street, where the numbers are made up and the economy doesn't matter!

The economy isnt for poor people. Its for rich people who play with all of our electronic money and lose it. Then they steal it from tax payers for bailouts to make sure they get 1600% more bonuses.

The economy = Rich People's Yacht Money.

When economic growth comes from digital sales and ownership of manufacturing pipelines that exist in other countries, there really is no connection between how much money "the country" makes and how much the median earner actually pulls in.
We've basically been kicked out of the production line, and then blamed for not keeping up with the "booming" economy.

*and yes, I know we don't use the gold standard anymore. No, instead we swapped to another made up pseudo currency that is a representation of the made up value of oil and based the made up value of paper money on that.

Petrodollar if you aren't aware of the convoluted bullshit I'm referring to.

It's the only part they care about.

Capitalism is good at growing the pie and terrible at equitable distribution. But what's the point of baking a giant pie if nobody can eat it?

2 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's funny because I just read that the US is insolvent according to the US Treasury.

We had safety and peace, oh and gas, we had gas. Then the dumbest motherfucker I have ever seen attacked iran for no reason. Now we have high gas prices and a war noone but him wanted.

That`s the truth.

The point of the economy is to make rich people richer.

I guess the economy isn’t his pride and joy 😜

The great mystery of humanity.

Because the working class is content with everything when you just give them their videogames and their conscience food.

This meme gets a chuckle from me, but it's also ironic coming from Lrrrr, "the ruler of Omicron Persei 8"

2 days ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

With that name format there can't be 800 of them.

2 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Maybe they're waiting for sweeps week.

2 days ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

It doesn’t help that a sizable chunk of the working class stupidly believes they are a part of the ruling class or one day will be a part of it.

“Why are you cheering Fry? you’re not rich!” “True, but someday I might be rich, and then people like me better watch their backs”

Or just have no idea how anything works because education has been slowly degraded out from under us if we can't afford private schools and tutors

The economy = Wall Street

Replace it with "My rich buddies"

2 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Bailouts? I seem to remember a lot of bailouts too. I bet the economy (Wall Street) seems resilient!

2 days ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It's all fucking rigged.

When the poor need a hand, it's socialism and it's bad. When the rich want a hand, it's a bailout and it's fine.

As a person in the top 5% of income earners… yup. This is exactly what’s going on. It’s getting easier and easier to be wealthy. Tbs, I vote as liberal as I can where I live and have cut all the magats out of my life which is fucking hard in a red state.

Worked for a guy for a while from generational wealth and it was when I realized you can have so much money a raging cocaine addiction can't affect your finances that I realized how rich, rich is. The 1st rule of investing is "Don't touch the principal" and at some levels of drug addiction and moderate wealth you spend your cash flow and decide to liquidate some investements, but if you have enough money you would die of a drug overdose before you run out of money for drugs.

Top 5%? In the U.S.?

What do you make a year, like $58,000 or something?

1 day ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What gets easier exactly

2 days ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

tThe acquisition of more wealth. Wealth compounds itself, so the more you have the more it makes and your spending typically hits a general ceiling.

“Keeping up with the Joneses” is easy when the Joneses can’t keep up.

Prices may go up, but my income goes up more, and I never have to worry if my gas tank will reach payday… and that new shiny thing can be delivered to my doorstep tomorrow for a fistful of dollars.

When I’m too lazy to cook, food is delivered. When I’m horny, webcam models perform on demand. To escape It all, a quick vacation in an illegally-rented house.

Luxury is just a click away, and all it costs is someone else’s life.

Sounds like you're reading from a secret Terry Pratchett story about a cyberpunk world.

2 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's pretty simple. Devs made a stat determining the state of the country, people learned to min-max and make conceptually fucked up builds, devs haven't made a balance patch because they're lazy assholes

2 days ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

More like the minmaxers keep slipping the devs a tenner to fix other "bugs" instead
