It wasn't ISP related, but instead there was a custom client installed on the customer's machine that used modems to drop off data.
It was glorious. Then we went to PMs. True story. As of 3 years ago, I worked at a company that had a PM with 2 banks in it being used. /
Ha. Yeah, our first 'modem rack' was a multiplexer worth a bunch of external modems connected. They were all mounted on the wall. /
