Exactly. Making it loop isn't that complicated, but you've got to make it seamless and that means extra testing effort on all the different displays. Doing it this way is definitely simpler, quicker and cheaper. Especially when you consider that it doesn't need to loop. When is a user actually going to scroll that much when actually using it?
Some things shouldn't exist in high quality. For an authentic experience, this should only be viewed in a cinema on a print that's been though the ringer 1000 times, thrown in the bin, retrieved from landfill and stitched back together with sellotape and hot glue, or on second generation VHS.

Given that Star Wars and Doctor Who used some of the same effects companies and prop houses, they may be the exact same items.
