Well, it tends to not really sound like metal without the electric guitar. There are exceptions, and if you set the mood with one song having the guitar and the next one not, that can work.

Yeah a fact of life that is if not fully unique to USA, pretty much happens 100 times more in USA than elsewhere. Guess Americans are just built different.

I was watching an interview of some outlaw biker, and it was just wild. Dude was first talking about how he and his group just want to be free, like they don't want to be forced into a corporate lifestyle, into following dress codes, etc. Then a few minutes later he starts a random rant on how transgender people are not actually the gender they are. Like.. The irony was palpable. Dude wants freedom one minute, the next he's saying he knows people's genders better than they do themselves.

The corporatization of Pride absolutely sucks, and it should always foremost be an event by LGBT+ people for the LGBT+ people. It's especially frustrating when Pride is used as an excuse to push more consumption. On the other hand, Pride and associated events can inspire companies to actually take real steps towards inclusivity. Like where I work, over past few years we've def put a lot of real money on DEI issues and improving the workplace for minorities.

Pride today is a peaceful event, safe for everyone to participate in, but the way to that included riots and clashes. Without enough noise made, not enough people would have given their attention for the issue. Pride is built on the work of some very head-strong people bent on having the respect and the rights that every human ought to have.

Great many good things from LGBT+ rights, to worker rights, to fair pay, to 5 day, 8 hour workweek, to the green movements and environmental action, were driven by citizen activity up to and including disobedience, rioting and clashes with companies, the police and counter-protestors. You don't change the world by making calm, neutral, compromise-seeking Facebook posts. You change the world by going out to the streets. Peacefully, most of the time - every now and then, less peacefully.

Fun horse/animal fact: The expression in the end is the flehmen response. Used when smelling or tasting something of interest to the animal. Might be e.g. no bite spray on the window frame or paint or such.

I imagine it's an outfit specifically for this picture, and I find it pretty fun in how it plays with shapes and sense of depth.

I'm not very worried about that either, I think courts are going to see through it quite easily. And yeah, sure, it might mean that some forms of evidence aren't taken seriously anymore - like photos from someone's phone - but those really just haven't been a big part of judicial proceedings to begin with. Most pieces of evidence are gathered by police, who as it is, could already fake e.g. finger print matches if they wanted to.

I'm not super scared, more so simply worried. It's a mix of a bit of scaredness, some worry, and a fair bit of excitement. I don't think these will have as big of an impact as a tool for fake news as people think, as the most gullible group of people already believes whatever their favorite talking head tells them to, no matter if there's video or not to back it up.

What's not OK to say is things like: I am afraid of needles/I think people who die to disease are weak and should die/etc. Saying things like "I don't trust big pharma" is totally normalized by now (in some cases unfortunately, in other cases; fortunately). Those former things tho are still not all that okay. Generally speaking most people have some selfish motif, rather than a belief in grand conspiracy.

And of course, the fact that comments like this are just instantly downvoted on Imgur, is just another example of people being part in denial about climate change. A lot of people who think they believe in climate change and think stuff should be done about it, are really only thinking that because they believe it's _everyone_ else who has to do it. Not them. It's always companies/politicians/media/weekend shoppers. Always someone else.

I've seen a lot of antivaxxers here try to explain it by saying that they're young, they're in good fitness, they're healthy, wont need vaccines - and of course, when they actually catch something dangerous, they're begging for the vaccines.

For public health - to me, it seems that a lot of anti-vaxxers and the like seem to believe they're themselves somehow immortal or impervious to disease. So again, if they accept the need for vaccines, they accept their own mortality and own subjectibility to potentially deadly disease. Something they prefer to not do. Rather they live in a fantasy world where their bodies are perfect in fighting disease and don't need help.

Because to fully agree with climate change makes you and everyone around you partly to blame; sure, companies have constantly tried to make consumers consume more, and have done their best to bystep regulations, but in truth, it's still ordinary citizens who want to have new clothes, want to drive their own car, want to eat meat, etc. Denying climate change is easier than it is to accept responsibility.

Been saying it for years, but this is a good time for everyone to think about where the limit is for them before they turn into direct action. And I don't mean just protesting anymore. Is it OK that there are politicians elected who want to eliminate people based on ethnicity or gender? Is it OK if trans people are criminalized, as long as it's not the Jews? Is exiling too much - or would it need to be labor camps?

I just hate or "hate" nation states as a system. Nation states will always create exploitation and wars. One day humanity needs to advance beyond nation states. It's probably not tomorrow, but one day.

.. the only option they have. So even if Putin or Xi would not use nukes, maybeNiazi will. He hates India anyway and wants to ally with Russia and China. Maybe Niazi wont, but Netanyahu will if the Arab and Gulf countries threaten to overrun Israel while USA is locked in defending Taiwan. Maybe Netanyahu won't, but maybe Jong Un will count on USA not daring to retaliate with nukes.

.. keep to its promise of protecting Taiwan and mobilize its full navy and airforce. China's navy is so far behind USA's, that China has to consider e.g. tactical nukes to have a chance. All this together at the same time is going to give room for all the other conflicts to come to fruition, including North Korea invading South Korea, India invading Pakistan, Arab countries and Iran attacking Israel. Some of those countries have their own nukes and are going to use them if they feel like it's ..

If Russia wins and gets the full support of China for rearming and running its industries, it's going to start threatening the Baltic states, which is going to force NATO to intervene. After that it's full total war in Europe, including complete draft of every able man. Europe would win on numbers, easily, but Russia has nukes, and they are going to use them to prove that they are willing if Europe/USA doesn't back away. At the same time, China is going to invade Taiwan, and USA is going to ..
